The Workplace team helps create the conditions for collaboration, community, and connection across Zillow’s distributed workforce. As Zillow continues to grow as a distributed company, in-person and hybrid gatherings remain an important part of how teams work together. This team partners closely with AV Engineering and workplace partners to make those experiences smooth, reliable, and easy to navigate for employees and guests.About the role
As an AV Event Technician on the Workplace team, you will play a key role in supporting on-site and hybrid gatherings, primarily in Zillow’s Seattle office. You’ll serve as an on-the-ground partner for event hosts and attendees, act as a liaison between Workplace and AV Engineering, and help ensure AV-enabled spaces are ready to use. You’ll provide hands-on event support, perform routine testing of AV rooms, help train teammates on standard room setups, and support basic AV system build and maintenance work in partnership with AV Engineers.
You will get to
Provide AV support for on-site and hybrid Zillow gatherings, including room setup, equipment checks, and live event support.
Serve as the primary liaison between the AV Engineering team and the Workplace team for hybrid events in Seattle, communicating needs, issues, and status clearly in both directions.
Partner closely with Workplace teammates, gathering planners, and event hosts to understand event requirements and recommend the right AV setup for each experience.
Set up, operate, and break down core audiovisual systems such as microphones, cameras, displays, and conferencing tools to support reliable event execution.
Monitor live events, troubleshoot issues in real time, and provide a high level of support to internal customers throughout the event experience.
Perform regular testing and health checks of AV spaces in the Seattle office and log issues for follow-up with Workplace and AV Engineering partners.
Deliver basic training and refreshers for Workplace team members on how to use AV spaces and standard tools confidently.
Support Zillow employees hosting events on-site by helping address their AV needs and ensuring equipment functions as expected.
Troubleshoot routine software and hardware issues, escalating more complex issues to AV Engineers when needed.
Contribute to clear, user-friendly documentation for AV equipment, including quick-start guides, how-to resources, and checklists.
Help AV Engineers understand real-world employee needs and usage patterns for hybrid event and room setups.
Assist with basic scopes, BOM development, procurement coordination, cabling coordination, and onsite testing or commissioning for basic AV systems under AV Engineering guidance.
Who you are
You have a high school diploma; an associate degree is preferred.
You bring 2+ years of customer service, hospitality, or onsite event support experience, ideally in an AV or event technician setting.
You have hands-on experience supporting AV setups end to end, including room prep, live monitoring, basic troubleshooting, teardown, and end-user support.
You have working knowledge of Zoom and Zoom Rooms, along with comfort troubleshooting common audio, video, lighting, and control issues.
You may also bring familiarity with Google Workspace and production hardware such as audio mixers, video switchers, camera controllers, or lighting consoles.
You are comfortable translating end-user needs into clear technical requests and working across Workplace teams, event hosts, and AV Engineering partners.
You are a strong communicator and collaborator who stays calm under pressure and is focused on creating a great experience for employees and guests.
You are detail-oriented, methodical in your testing and follow-through, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift quickly.
You are energized by teamwork and take pride in being an integral part of office operations and hybrid event experiences.
