About the team

Orion owns key Follow Up Boss platform capabilities across customer-facing workflows and the systems that support them. The team partners closely with engineering, product management, technical program management, and adjacent teams to design, build, and evolve end-to-end product experiences. Orion is a 7-engineer team distributed across the U.S. and Mexico.

About the role

This is an opportunity for a senior full-stack engineer to have broad ownership and visible impact across customer and business-critical product experiences. In this role, you will help shape and deliver end-to-end solutions that are technically challenging, highly leveraged, and important to both end users and the business.

You Will Get To:

  • Lead the design, delivery, and ongoing support of end-to-end projects and features across the platform.

  • Build and evolve customer-facing product experiences across client and service layers, including scalable PHP services that support them.

  • Design and integrate APIs and service interfaces across frontend and backend systems.

  • Review code, contribute to engineering standards, facilitate technical discussions, and mentor junior engineers in a cross-functional team environment.

This role has been categorized as a teleworker position. Teleworkers do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and instead work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live anywhere in Mexico, with availability to travel to Mexico City, as we recommend attendance at occasional office events.

In addition to a competitive base salary and benefits, this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • You have 5+ years of software development experience building customer-facing web applications and supporting services, with strong skills in ES6, React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and PHP.

  • You bring strong full-stack engineering experience, including API and service design, and a solid understanding of how frontend and backend systems work together.

  • You have strong frontend skills and solid backend fundamentals, including testing, error handling, and maintainable system design.

  • You have experience with event-driven architectures, distributed systems, and production operations practices such as monitoring, debugging, and safe rollouts. Kafka experience is a plus.

  • You value software quality and reliability, with experience in CI/CD, automated testing, and raising the bar for code quality, maintainability, and release confidence.

  • You are fluent in English and Spanish, both written and spoken, and are authorized to work in Mexico.

  • Here at Zillow we value the experience and perspective of candidates with non-traditional backgrounds. We encourage you to apply if you have transferable skills or related experiences.
