Zillow is looking for a seasoned and strategic Senior Manager, HR Business Partner (HRBP) to lead our HRBP team supporting the Technology organization. This person will serve as a key advisor to the most senior engineering leaders, drive organizational health and talent strategies, and lead a team of HRBPs in a fast-paced, evolving environment. About the role
This role reports to the Senior Director of HR and leads the HRBP function for Zillow’s Engineering & Technology organization. You will oversee a team of HRBPs and serve as a key thought partner to engineering executives, helping to shape culture, drive org design, and elevate leadership effectiveness. You will also operate as a connective tissue between People Org and the broader business, translating complex organizational needs into people strategies that scale.
You Will Get To
Lead and scale a team of four plus HRBPs to collaborate with senior executives, technical business leaders, HR leadership and broader HR to establish HR plans and solutions to achieve strategic business initiatives and deliver results.
Act as liaison between employees and management to answer questions or concerns regarding company policies, practices, and regulations. ESCALATIONS
Partner with executives and their teams to develop and execute HR strategies and activities that champion growth, innovation and organizational effectiveness. This includes implementing programs, processes and tools to help set managers and employees up for success.
Serve as a trusted advisor and coach to technical leaders and HRBPs to navigate rapid change, ambiguity, and transformation.
Identify and lead solutions to complex organizational challenges, acting as a key thought partner on performance management, compensation, employee relations, and engagement strategies. Manage and advise on escalations and path forward.
Drive and influence org design, workforce planning, and succession strategies in alignment with business growth and strategic goals
Counsel senior leaders on maintaining positive employee relations for a wide range of issues. May include conducting investigations in response to Employee Relations issues and recommend/implement courses of action based on investigation results.
Support the analysis and facilitation of cultural initiatives through influence and coaching to cultivate an environment that reflects our core values and leadership principles.
Facilitate the successful rollout of enterprise-wide HR initiatives and ensure adoption within the engineering organization.
Who you are
Prior HRBP experience supporting engineering or technical organizations, with deep understanding of operating rhythms, culture, and expectations of high-performing technical teams
Exceptional ability to influence without authority and build credibility with senior leaders
Demonstrated success leading through complex change and ambiguity in fast-paced environments
Deep knowledge of core HR disciplines including org design, talent development, employee relaitons, performance enablement, and leadership coaching. Experience developing, executing, and maintaining HR projects and programs
Handle workflow, with minimal oversight, in a fast-paced environment with multiple and sometimes changing priorities
Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship building skills; highly skilled at navigating sensitive topics with empathy and clarity
Qualifications
8+ years of HRBP related experience
Experience leading team of HRBPs
Maintains a high level of confidentiality
Strong interpersonal, mediation, conflict resolution, and coaching
Experience with HCM systems (we use Workday) MS Office, Google Suite, and Slack (or other communication channels), Tableau, SmartSheet (or other reporting tools)
