NOTE: This is a Part-time freelance contract, ~20 hours/week. (Why Wealthsimple? Benefits do not apply)

About the role

TLDR is Canada's #1 financial newsletter and Wealthsimple's flagship publication. This role exists to make sure it ships every week, on time.

As TLDR Production Coordinator, you'll own the operational backbone of the newsletter: managing production timelines, coordinating with contributors and illustrators, and keeping the workflows running supporting the editorial team.

This is a freelance contract role, approximately 20 hours per week. TLDR ships Monday mornings, which means consistent weekend work is part of the job. We're looking for someone who takes that in stride and does whatever it takes to get the issue out the door.

In this role, you'll focus on:

Production and scheduling: Own the weekly production schedule for TLDR, ensuring every issue ships on time. Manage deadlines across the editorial team and flag risks before they become problems. Maintain and improve production workflows as opportunities arise.

Contributor and contract coordination: Coordinate with illustrators and freelance contributors, managing briefs, timelines, and deliverables. Negotiate rates, track spend, and manage against budget.

Workflow and process: Implement and maintain process systems to reduce manual overhead for the editorial team. Manage administrative tasks that fall outside automation.

Cross-team coordination: Serve as the operational link for the editorial team. Keep stakeholders informed without adding overhead.

What you'll bring

  • 2+ years in a production coordinator, operations, or project management role; media, publishing, or content environments are a strong plus

  • A track record of owning timelines and getting things across the finish line

  • Sharp organizational skills and attention to detail; you notice when something's off before anyone else does

  • Genuine appreciation for editorial work; you don't need to be the writer, but you care about what ships

  • Low-drama, high-follow-through; you don't get rattled when priorities shift

  • Comfort navigating our tech stack: Slack, Google Docs, Asana, and Figma (reviewing deliverables and leaving comments, not designing)

  • Consistent weekend availability; this role is structured around a Monday ship date and that's non-negotiable
