Internships @ Wealthsimple
At Wealthsimple, we offer 4 to 8-month internships that are open to co-op and non-co-op students, and recent grads. During your internship, you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects that are changing the landscape of financial services for Canadians. You will be on a team that supports your growth, provides mentorship, and connects you to the broader Wealthsimple community!
Our internship program follows a hybrid work model, where you’ll be working from our Toronto headquarters on Wednesdays and Thursdays. This structure offers the flexibility of remote work, while also providing the collaboration, connection, and mentorship that come from being together in person.
Eligibility
✔ Currently enrolled as a student at a Canadian post-secondary institution or technical bootcamp
✔ New graduates - Within 6 months of your graduation date
✔ Available to work full-time hours
✔ Residing in Canada
✔ Able to commute to our Toronto HQ on Wednesdays and Thursdays
About the Accounting Team
The Accounting team is responsible for the financial backbone of Wealthsimple. We manage the company's financial records, ensure compliance with IFRS, and provide timely, accurate financial information to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency across all business units. We are a collaborative, detail-oriented team that plays a crucial role in enabling the company's high-growth objectives.
About the Role
The Accounting Intern will be a crucial support member for the Finance and Accounting team, gaining hands-on, foundational experience in a fast-paced, high-growth financial technology environment. This role offers an unparalleled opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios and directly contribute to key financial processes.
This role will be closed for applications on Sunday November 9th 11:59PM EST.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Assist with the month-end and quarter-end close processes, including preparing routine journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support the Senior Accountant in day-to-day functions, as well as ad-hoc projects which may include bank reconciliations, accruals, and ad hoc tasks
  • Perform financial data entry and review supporting documentation to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
  • Assisting in the preparation of schedules for external audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance.
  • Creating and updating documentation for accounting policies and procedures.
  • Learn about regulatory compliance, internal controls, and the application of accounting principles (IFRS) in a dynamic, regulated fintech context.

What you'll bring:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or recently graduated within the last 6 months).
  • A foundational understanding of basic accounting principles (e.g., debits/credits, chart of accounts).
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs) and ability to quickly learn new software systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and a strong commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a proactive and collaborative approach to teamwork.
