Our mission is simple: to motivate people to live their best active lives. We believe in the power of movement to connect and drive people forward.

Strava’s Design Team advocates for our community and our business by crafting experiences that are inclusive, high-quality, and scalable. We use design, research, data, and emotional intelligence to guide cross-functional teams toward our shared goal of building the best platform for athletes. As a Senior Product Designer on the Design Systems team, you will focus on building, evolving, and maintaining Strava’s design system across mobile, web, and Apple Watch. Your work will help teams ship faster while improving consistency, accessibility, and overall product quality. This is a pure design systems role with a strong emphasis on execution, system craft, and close collaboration with engineering and product design partners.

Additional Information

This is an individual contributor role and does not include people management responsibilities. You will play a key role in shaping how teams across Strava design and build products through the quality, clarity, and usability of the design system.

This role is based in our Denver, CO office, with a hybrid in-office requirement of at least 3 days per week.

What you'll do:

  • Own and evolve major components and foundational patterns within Strava’s design system.

  • Design and maintain Figma libraries, components, tokens, and system documentation.

  • Define and refine UX and UI patterns used across multiple product teams.

  • Improve cross-platform parity across iOS, Android, web, and Apple Watch, while respecting platform conventions.

  • Partner closely with engineering on component APIs, states, variants, and theming to keep design and code aligned.

  • Contribute to design-to-code workflows and automation that reduce manual effort and speed up production.

  • Advance and maintain accessibility standards across system components and patterns.

  • Write clear documentation and usage guidelines that support consistent adoption across design and engineering.

  • Represent the design system in cross-team critiques, working sessions, and forums.

  • Support and mentor other designers through feedback, collaboration, and shared best practices.

  • Identify opportunities to modernize the product through improvements to the design system.

  • Apply a strong systems-thinking approach to complex, multi-platform problems.

  • Ship high-quality system improvements that are practical, scalable, and production-ready.

  • Clearly articulating design decisions, tradeoffs, and constraints.

  • Produce detailed interaction and UI specifications and partnering closely with engineers through implementation.

  • Embracing an inclusive, collaborative environment that values diverse perspectives.

  • Navigate ambiguity with confidence and taking initiative to move work forward.

  • Use feedback, data, and partner input to continuously improve the system.

What you'll bring to the team:

  • 3+ years of product design experience, with meaningful hands-on work in design systems, component libraries, or UI foundations.

  • A portfolio that demonstrates shipped design system work and its impact.

  • Experience designing and shipping for both native mobile and web platforms.

  • A high bar for visual and interaction design, paired with strong UX fundamentals.

  • A solid understanding of engineering complexity within design systems, including states, variants, and implementation constraints.

  • Comfort reading code and partnering closely with engineers to shape scalable, maintainable components.

  • Familiarity with design tokens, component libraries, and documentation tools such as Storybook or Zeroheight.

  • Practical knowledge of accessibility guidelines and inclusive design principles.

  • Experience working in cross-functional, Agile product teams.

  • Curiosity, a growth mindset, and a desire to continually improve tools, processes, and outcomes.
