About the role

The Legal team turns complexity into clarity by partnering with teams across Revolut to provide sharp, practical advice that helps the business move fast while staying protected. From structuring credit programmes to navigating new markets, the Legal team ensures growth is secure, compliant, and built for the long term.

We're looking for a Legal Counsel to develop and execute proactive strategies that impact our business in New Zealand. You'll be involved in decision-making on critical issues, providing expert legal advice and guidance to support our growth in the market.

This role can be based in either Wellington or Auckland with the ability to work remotely.

What you'll be doing

  • Identifying and consulting on legal risks and compliance issues relating to the structuring, development, marketing, and promotion of new products
  • Drafting and amending customer facing documentation, including terms and conditions, product disclosure, policy, regulatory disclosures and growth promotions
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, including services, partnerships, and marketing agreements
  • Providing legal support and management of regulatory licence variations or new applications to deliver on our strategy
  • Monitoring changes to regulatory requirements and proactively handling regulatory developments
  • Assisting with board and committee management
  • Advising on data protection and privacy legal issues
  • Documenting legal know-how and assisting with internal knowledge sharing

What you'll need

  • Admission to practise in New Zealand
  • 2+ years of post-qualification legal experience in a law firm or in-house environment
  • An awareness of relevant legislation, such as Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act, the National Consumer Credit Code, the Australian Consumer Law, the AML/CTF Act, the Privacy Act, and the Payment Systems (Regulation) Act
  • An interest in New Zealand retail banking and consumer law
  • Solid technical and analytical skills
  • An ability to demonstrate sound legal and business judgement
  • A high degree of independence, initiative, and decisiveness, including the ability to work collaboratively and contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Resilience and the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
