This role is critical to maintaining operational integrity as the company scales. You will partner closely with Sales Operations, HR, Payroll, Finance, Deal Desk, and Legal to support compensation plan execution and deliver high-quality data, insights, and documentation.

What you’ll do:

Commission Data Maintenance & Administration
  • Prepare and distribute Comp Plan Letters for all commission-eligible employees, including new hires, role changes, promotions, and quota adjustments.
  • Maintain templates, validate figures, route approvals, and ensure timely delivery of plan documents.
  • Review Closed Won deals for data integrity, crediting accuracy, and alignment to compensation policies.
  • Validate monthly commission calculations and attainment measures, resolving discrepancies at the source.
Systems & Data Ownership
  • Support data accuracy and updates within Xactly Incent, including HRIS data (Bob), quota mapping, plan components, and crediting rules.
  • Assist in system maintenance activities, testing, and periodic configuration updates.
  • Proactively identify data issues and partner cross-functionally to implement upstream fixes.
Payroll, Accounting, & Compliance
  • Prepare monthly commission payroll files with full audit support and submit them to Payroll.
  • Maintain reconciliations and create and upload journal entries (accruals, deferrals, true-ups, payroll) into NetSuite.
  • Partner with Accounting to ensure compliance with ASC 606 and internal controls.
Reporting, Analytics, & Insights
  • Build, maintain, and enhance recurring reports that track sales performance, attainment, payouts, and KPIs.
  • Support ad-hoc analysis needs tied to plan design, forecasting, or operational changes.
  • Develop dashboards or reporting tools that deliver deeper insights into compensation effectiveness.
Support, Ticketing, & Communication
  • Respond to Jira tickets related to compensation plans, calculations, and crediting inquiries.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for commission-related questions from Sales, HR, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Documentation, Training, & Process Improvement
  • Develop and maintain clear and accessible process documentation and SOPs.
  • Create field-facing guides that improve understanding of plans, Xactly system navigation, and timing/SLAs.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, workflow improvements, and policy alignment.

What will you need to have?

  • 1-3+ years of experience in commissions, sales compensation, sales operations, FP&A, or related analytical roles.
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (complex formulas, lookups, pivot tables).
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and data validation skills with impeccable attention to detail.
  • Experience working with Salesforce or another CRM platform.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, including accruals and revenue recognition concepts.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional partners and field sales teams.
  • Proven ability to manage recurring deadlines with accuracy and consistency.

Extra great if you have:

  • Direct experience with Xactly Incent or another enterprise commissions system (CaptivateIQ, Varicent, Anaplan).
  • Strong understanding of sales compensation structures, crediting logic, quotas, and variable pay mechanics.
  • Experience in a high-growth SaaS or technology company.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience with Jira or other ticketing systems.
  • General understanding of process documentation or workflow optimization.
  • Understanding of ASC 606 and commission expense accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
