Join us as a Litigation Counsel and own Qonto's litigation processes end-to-end, with a primary focus on banking litigation (contentieux bancaire). You will define the right legal strategies to navigate high-stakes disputes and have a direct impact on limiting our financial exposure as our customer base scales.
Beyond litigation, you will progressively take on commercial and product legal matters for our Belgian branch, making this a genuinely generalist role with room to grow.
Your manager will be Ghislain, Head of Legal - Litigation, Commercial & International.
• His path? Ghislain has a strong international background, having studied law in both France and Germany. He began his career as a litigator (Avocat à la Cour) at top-tier international law firms like Hogan Lovells and Signature Litigation. He joined Qonto in 2021 and has consistently grown within the company, stepping up through various leadership roles before reaching his current position.
• What he can bring to the team? With over five years of experience at Qonto, Ghislain offers a deep understanding of our legal framework and business operations. Fluent in French, German, and English, he brings exceptional expertise in navigating complex EU regulations, international commercial litigation, and high-stakes compliance investigations. As an experienced leader, he will guide the team with strong negotiation skills, strategic vision, and a robust international perspective. Ghislain values collaboration, clear communication, and a strong drive for problem-solving.
• Experience: You have at least 4 years of experience handling French banking litigation (contentieux bancaire) end-to-end (covering payment disputes, account-related claims, fraud, etc.), with a strong ability to assess legal and financial risks. and manage high-stakes disputes. Having passed the CRFPA/CAPA and prior experience as a lawyer is a strong plus.
• Collaborative & Communicative: You excel at coordinating with multiple internal stakeholders and external lawyers. You possess strong written communication skills for reporting and case tracking.
• Languages: You have professional fluency in French (min. C2 level), as well as a strong knowledge of French banking law and litigation practices, to seamlessly interact with local stakeholders and documents. You are also fluent in English (min. C1 level).
