Sr. Director, Product Safety and Technical Compliance

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Director, Technical Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance leads Peloton’s global Technical Product Safety organization, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance—while delivering exceptional member experiences.
This role is accountable for defining and executing a comprehensive global product safety and regulatory compliance strategy aligned with Peloton’s long-term growth objectives. The Senior Director will shape organizational design, manage budgets, and drive continuous improvement, building scalable processes and systems that enable innovation across Peloton’s connected fitness portfolio.
Partnering closely with leaders across Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain Operations, Product Management, Member Support, Customer Experience, and other cross-functional teams, this role serves as a trusted advisor and technical authority on all product safety matters. This position reports directly to the VP, Global Quality and Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance.
YOUR IMPACT AT PELOTON
- Serve as the senior technical authority and escalation leader for product safety investigations, incidents, and member-impacting events in close partnership with cross-functional teams
- Lead the Product Investigation Council, ensuring timely, rigorous, and data-driven decision-making
- Proactively identify, assess, prioritize, and mitigate product safety risks across the product portfolio
- Define and implement the vision, strategy, and operating model for a comprehensive Global Technical Product Safety and Regulatory Compliance program
- Partner with Quality, Operations, Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Experience leaders to ensure end-to-end product safety and compliance across the full product lifecycle
- Establish governance frameworks to monitor product safety risks, define corrective actions, and lead technical investigations
- Ensure all critical product safety processes are clearly defined, documented, and operating in a sustained state of control
- Build and sustain a closed-loop problem-solving system emphasizing root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying systemic product, process, and organizational improvement opportunities
- Define and execute product safety and regulatory compliance priorities aligned with business objectives
- Coordinate and deploy resources to support escalations, investigations, and remediation efforts
- Review, approve, and guide changes to products, processes, and documentation that may impact product safety
- Represent Peloton in external standards and regulatory forums, including UL, EN, ASTM, and other relevant bodies
- Maintain deep expertise in global product safety regulations, standards, certifications, and compliance requirements applicable to connected fitness and consumer products
YOU BRING TO PELOTON
- 7+ years of leadership experience in Product Safety, Regulatory Compliance and/or Quality
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (advanced degree preferred)
- Proven experience leading global, cross-functional teams across multiple products, regions, and stakeholders
- 5+ years of experience in consumer goods (B2C) environments
- Demonstrated success developing and executing product safety and regulatory compliance strategies at scale
- Strong expertise in structured problem-solving methodologies, including 8D and similar tools
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to align cross-functional leaders and present effectively to executive stakeholders
- Sound judgment and the ability to navigate complex, high-impact decisions in fast-paced environments
- Experience in fitness, connected devices, or consumer electronics industries is a plus
- Familiarity with product risk management, regulatory reporting, and agency engagement (e.g., CPSC, EU Safety Gate/RAPEX, or similar authorities) is a plus
- Experience partnering with external manufacturers, suppliers, and testing laboratories to ensure compliance and continuous improvement is a plus
- Strong understanding of Design for Safety principles, hazard analysis methodologies (e.g., FMEA, fault tree analysis), and risk-based decision-making is a plus
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position based at our New York City headquarters. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including, without limitation, experience and business objectives and if the location for the job changes.
