About the Role:

We have an open position in Mexico for the Global Corporate Development and M&A area, a small (~10 people) team that works closely with Nubank's senior leadership to identify new opportunities for organic and inorganic expansion for the company. This area is responsible for developing new businesses, exploring how Nubank can enter new markets, or expand its operations in existing segments. To achieve this, the team conducts market and company analyses, develops and negotiates partnerships, stock swap agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and minority investments, among others. For example, in 2024, the team was responsible for Nubank's acquisition of Hyperplane and investment in Tyme.

As a Sr. Consultant, you will be responsible for:

  • Being the Global Corporate Development team's lead in Mexico
  • Developing relationships with the startup ecosystem in Mexico, and also with Investment Banks, Venture Capital funds and other potential partners and targets;
  • Identifying and leading opportunities to help advance Nu Mexico's strategic objectives with the support from the team's leadership, including M&A, partnerships and organic opportunities;
  • Leading the execution of prioritized projects with support from the team's leadership;
  • Leading interactions with internal stakeholders to discuss strategy, validate hypotheses and define priorities;
  • Writing investment/partnership memos to align internally (including Nubank's management team);
  • Conducting quantitative analyses and building financial models to support decisions;
  • Manage analysts and interns through the delivery of a project.

We are looking for a Business Development Sr. Consultant professional who has:

  • Strategic Problem-Solving: Strong ability to tackle complex, multi-variable challenges, especially involving business, regulatory, financial, and product considerations.
  • Analytical and Data-Driven: Proficient in data and financial analysis, with comfort in deriving actionable insights and informed decisions.
  • Communication Excellence: Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish, capable of translating complex insights for executive audiences.
  • Project Management: Proven track record managing concurrent initiatives, balancing immediate and strategic goals.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Skilled at working with multiple teams, effectively leading through influence (e.g., product, legal, compliance, finance, marketing, eng).
  • Ownership Mentality: Takes full accountability for projects, driving them from concept to completion with a sense of responsibility and commitment.
  • Self-Motivated and Hands-On: A proactive self-starter, curious and eager to learn, who takes initiative and dives into execution with a hands-on approach.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Thrives in a dynamic environment, showing resilience and flexibility as priorities shift in the short and long terms.
  • Team Player: A collaborative individual with excellent interpersonal skills who values diverse perspectives and team-driven success.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Business, Engineering, Math, or Economics; an MBA or similar advanced degree is preferred.
  • Professional Experience: Experience with strategic partnerships from inception to execution is highly valued.
  • 6+ years of experience in Private Equity, Venture Capital, Consulting, Corporate Development, IB, Startup or other related area;
  • Advanced Excel/PowerPoint skills;
  • Knowledge of corporate finance and valuation;
  • Fluent in English and Spanish;
  • Willingness to be based in Mexico City.
