About the role

At Nubank we heavily rely on data, machine learning and other quantitative models & techniques to drive our strategy and provide the best experience and products to our customers. Being a a Nubank auditor is different from being a traditional auditor: our goal is to keep disrupting internal audit by embracing technology and data to provide continuous and predictive control assessment.

In this role, you will be able to expand your knowledge regarding Nubank's products, having a unique and deep understanding of financial products and machine learning/statistics usage in a financial institution. You will also participate in strategic projects of the team (i.e., annual planning automation, methodology review, risk mapping, AI usage, etc)

In the team, you will participate in Nubank's third line of defense and will have the mission of evaluating our main processes, services, models, and products through our data and risk assessment environment, ensuring that they are adapted to both regulations and the company's risk appetite. institution.

You'll be responsible for

• Apply data exploration and analysis techniques in order to identify unmitigated risks and/or evaluate the efficiency of implemented controls
• Evaluate and criticize the Machine Learning or Statistics Models and their controls.
• Follow up with new trends in AI usage, such as new technology, new applications, and new regulations;
• Support data-driven discussions within your team and across business areas and geos (BR, MX and CO).
• Lead and execute audit fieldwork: plan the audit project execution through the prioritization of tests based on risk level, provide technical guidance to staff auditors, conduct and document audit tests, review tests' documentation, and write audit reports and findings.
• Perform follow up on findings and action plans' implementation.
• Embrace technology through the development and monitoring of continuous auditing tests (See our blog post: Reinventing Internal Audit by embracing technology), as well as helping the team towards a predictive approach over risks.

We are looking for a person who has

• Understands the financial market and has a deep knowledge of Credit Risk (Fraud, Marketplace or AI are a Plus)
• Knows how to use the data analytics tools using i.e SQL, Scala, Python, or Spark, and perform effective queries in their tests
• Is creative and knows Data Science concepts, so it can be applied to audit fieldwork
• Understands and knows how to evaluate and criticize the Machine Learning/Statistics models, as well as their controls and usage flow
• Understands a risk-based environment
• Ability to learn fast, strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Organized and detail-oriented, without losing track of the big picture
• Willingness to learn and adapt to a high-paced environment
• Communicates objectively and assertively, capable of bonding with senior stakeholders
• Comfortable making decisions based on data.
