THE OPPORTUNITY

Netflix seeks a seasoned and intellectually-curious business and legal affairs executive to join our team based in Bangkok, Thailand. This role will provide business and legal affairs support for Netflix’s Southeast Asia and Taiwan content initiative, with the role primarily focusing on the commissioning and licensing of Thai films, series, and music.

The successful candidate will serve as a key collaborator to Netflix’s Thailand content team, and will be responsible for providing clear, actionable, and strategic business and legal affairs advice. They will be responsible for structuring, negotiating, drafting, and closing deals for film, series, and music; providing production legal support for films and series; and building and managing internal and external relationships with key content, production, and music partners. The role will manage the music clearance workflow for film and series content and for marketing and PR campaigns, from project conceptualization to launch, with responsibilities including clearing music tracks with multiple rights holders, contracting composers and other music talent (whether for original score or songs), and overseeing music requirements and deliverables for film and series content (e.g., cue sheets, CMO requirements).

This position will be based in Bangkok, Thailand with periodic international travel, including to Netflix’s office in Singapore.

REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate must have fluency in both Thai and English, with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively in both languages.

This person must have experience advising on business and legal issues in the film, television, and/or music industry. Experience drafting and negotiating contracts in the Thai film, television, and/or music industry (in licensing, production, financing, and/or distribution) is required.

The successful candidate will also possess the following:

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently

  • Ability to work on a high volume of assignments under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize accordingly

  • Curiosity and willingness to tackle matters outside their area of expertise

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (candor, honesty, tact)

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively cross-functionally

  • Ability to think practically and be solution-oriented

  • Adaptable negotiation style

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Advise and manage production companies on music rights and licensing (or clear music directly, as necessary) for content/marketing/PR usage.

  • Advise on and monitor music budgets, and provide estimates when needed, for film, series, and marketing/PR projects.

  • Structure deals and negotiate and draft contracts in Thai, with a focus on master use and synchronization rights, film/series licensing and acquisition, and original content development and production.

  • Serve as business partner and key collaborator to film/series content executives.

  • Work cross-functionally to maintain alignment between departments.
