Overview
The Marketing Planning & Studio Relations Manager is the strategic engine ensuring the seamless execution of marketing campaigns for licensed and non-branded titles. You are the connective tissue between Netflix’s internal functions and external studio partners, transforming complex logistical and rights challenges into streamlined, high-impact marketing opportunities.
The Marketing Planning & Studio Relations Manager is based in Japan, and reports to the Senior Manager, Marketing Planning & Studio Relations based in Japan.

Key Responsibilities
​1. Strategic Export Engine & Studio Partnership

  • Global Connectivity: Lead the export of titles and campaigns from Japan by providing operational strategic insights to global markets. Ensure a "One Team" approach between the home territory and supporting markets throughout the campaign lifecycle.
  • High-Stakes Relationship Management: Manage complex relationships with local and global studio partners. Act as a trusted advisor to unlock creative potential while navigating licensing constraints and legal requirements.
  • Partner Empowerment: Educate external partners on Netflix’s marketing standards and operational excellence to ensure high-quality, timely asset delivery.

2. Regional Licensing Hub & Cross-functional Leadership

  • Cross-functional Nexus: Orchestrate collaboration across Content Licensing, Marketing, PR, Legal, and Production teams. Your role is to bridge the gap between local market needs and global studio requirements.
  • Information Synthesis & Distillation: Maintain a holistic view of the APAC licensed slate (local and import). Distill complex information into actionable insights and clear creative guidelines for regional teams.
  • Asset & Approval Authority: Serve as the definitive "go-to" person for regional asset sourcing and clearances. Independently navigate rights restrictions and use discretion to solve issues before they impact campaign timelines.

3. Operational Excellence & Continuous Optimization

  • Workflow Re-engineering: Consistently review and re-invent operational workflows to improve the agility of our marketing engine. Identify bottlenecks and design scalable, innovative solutions that allow Netflix to grow without friction.
  • Performance Tracking: Utilize data and reporting tools to track operational performance, spot trends, and establish "best-in-class" practices for licensed content marketing.
  • Efficiency at Scale: Bridge the gap between internal legal/rights requirements and external studio constraints to unlock creative opportunities that were previously inaccessible.

Required Skill & Experience
The right candidate should have a minimum of 7 years of experience in strategic planning or project management role at an advertising agency, brand, or network/studio marketing team.

  • Bilingual Proficiency: Professional fluency in both Japanese and English.
  • Studio Partnership: Proven ability to build and manage high-stakes relationships with external studio and content partners.
  • Operational Excellence: Experience in optimizing complex workflows and building scalable marketing operations.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Natural leader who can align diverse internal teams (Content, Legal, Marketing, PR, Produ t) to drive projects to completion.
  • Information Synthesis: Ability to distill complex data and rights information into clear, actionable insights for regional teams.
  • Data Literacy: High proficiency in Excel/Sheets with a knack for identifying trends and telling stories through data.
  • Problem Solving: Creative problem-solver who can navigate ambiguity and manage high-volume workflows under tight deadlines.

  • Marketing Literacy: Working knowledge of digital, social, and traditional media platforms.
