Job Summary:

We are seeking experienced, highly creative Previs Artists to join our growing team on an upcoming slate of animated feature films. This role is ideal for a fast, confident previs artist who thrives in a collaborative studio environment and brings strong cinematic instincts—especially in camera—to every shot.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong previs skills and a proven ability to deliver high-quality work efficiently while responding effectively to creative direction.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create high-quality previs sequences for feature animation, from rough idea through refined cinematic storytelling

  • Design and execute a wide range of camera styles and techniques, including dynamic, subtle, and performance-driven cinematography

  • Work closely with directors, layout, animation, editorial, and other departments

  • Interpret and respond to direction quickly and effortlessly, iterating with speed and clarity

  • Integrate and work with motion capture data where required, supporting performance-based storytelling

  • Contribute creatively to shot design, staging, pacing, and visual storytelling

  • Maintain strong organizational and communication skills within a team-based production environment

What You’ll Need:

  • 5+ years of previs experience on feature animation and/or live-action projects, or equivalent experience through shorts, series, games, or strong portfolio work.

  • Exceptional camera skills, with a deep understanding of cinematic language, shot composition, and movement

  • High level of proficiency in animation, with a strong sense of timing, staging, performance, and editing

  • Proficient in Maya; experience with additional tools such as Blender, Unreal, Photoshop, or Premiere is a plus.

  • Experience working with motion capture data in a previs or animation pipeline is a plus.

  • Experience in related areas such as basic rigging, modeling, or animation tools/setup is a plus, especially for problem‑solving and optimizing workflows.

  • Fast, efficient, and reliable under production schedules

  • Highly collaborative, team-oriented, and receptive to feedback

This job is based in the US.

At NAS, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine your compensation. We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, location, skills, and experience. The overall market range for this role is typically $70.00-$84.00 per hour. This reflects total compensation; we do not have bonuses.

This job may be covered by a collective bargaining agreement. If so, pay for the position is governed by the currently effective applicable collective bargaining agreement and thus will be no less than $59.16 and up to any better conditions and terms negotiated and obtained as expressly provided therein.
