Partnerships - Title Distribution & Promotion
Netflix
Sales & Business Development, Operations
Los Gatos, CA, USA
At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.
As a premier distribution service, we provide insights and feedback to our partners (internal and external) about how the Netflix product presents their titles to our membership. Netflix is in constant iteration as we aim to be the best service for members and content creators alike; this requires a focus on communication with our partners on what’s changing, and if/why they should care. As a global team with partners across geographies, languages, and business models, we require a centralized effort to identify, curate, and package the information to ensure our partners have understanding and trust in our distribution experience. The Partnerships role within Title Distribution and Promotion is responsible for this strategy and its execution.
You should be an expert communicator who can translate between technical and creative languages and sensitivities. Success in the role requires quantitative and qualitative skillsets; understanding the “hard” (financial, numerical) and “soft” (perceptual, relationship) impacts of promotional behaviors and what partners are attuned to, globally. You should be practiced at translating complex concepts into relatable terms, and be energized by a rapidly-evolving area and fast-paced environment. Experience with entertainment partners strongly preferred.
This role would be responsible for:
Identifying the product experience changes (algorithmic, design, or merchandising driven) that will materially impact title/slate experiences and/or expectations
Driving the quantitative insights that best capture the scale and scope of impact to our partners; this role identifies the questions to answer in order to explain effect on partners, and works with Performance lead where that information is missing
Creating the central source documentation that outlines these changes and impacts (in partnership with PM and other stakeholders as appropriate) in partner-appropriate terms
Delivering communication guidance (in partnership with our Comms team) for discussing product changes with external partners. This requires deeply understanding the texture of everyday conversations with external partners as well as the insights on a feature impact.
Partnering with Regional Lead Merchandisers to understand the more nuanced curiosities and concerns around particular product experiences or features, and help program discussion or educational sessions as needed
Ensuring your documentation is easily accessible to Product Merchandising globally, scaling that information to ICs who will need to represent that information in their daily work with cross-functional title partners.
Partnering with Product Marketing to coordinate cascades to global marketing teams as needed
Qualifications [including specific skills, years of experience, etc]:
8+ years of experience in Merchandising, Partnerships or Product Marketing roles at a large-scale company (preferably in tech and/or entertainment)
Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and drive alignment amid ambiguity
Superior written (memos and presentations) and verbal communication skills with a proven track record of translating complexity into accessible information
Understanding of Entertainment business fundamentals and consumer behaviors. Experience in streaming a plus.
Output-oriented; delivers in a timely manner and focuses on work products rather than concepts or theoreticals
Strategic, big-picture thinker with a strong partner-focused mindset and empathy
Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders of various backgrounds and effectively synthesize inputs and context into concrete recommendations and next steps
Bachelor's degree required
