About Media Systems Engineering
Media Systems Engineering helps filmmakers bring their vision to life, through the design and support of all technical workstations, image & sound equipment, and playback systems currently in use across all Netflix creative spaces. That includes screening rooms, post-production suites, QC environments, audio facilities, and specialty creative spaces that power content creation from capture through delivery. You will work at the intersection of creative intent and technical excellence, partnering closely with the Global Media Systems Engineering team to spearhead new technology deployments across the corporate and studio portfolio.
Role Overview
N Tech is seeking a Full-Time Media Systems Engineer to join our Global Media Systems Design team. In this role, you will serve as an EMEA based team member of a globally aligned Engineering organization—ensuring that Netflix’s creative and technical spaces operate reliably, consistently, and to the highest industry standards. You will also have a direct impact on the development and implementation of Netflix internal system design standards alongside your peer group of engineers.
This role requires strong technical depth, calm execution under pressure, and the ability to work autonomously while remaining tightly connected to the rest of our team.
Responsibilities
Technical System Design
Serve as a subject matter expert and technical authority in image, sound, and integrated system design across Netflix’s global portfolio of specialty creative spaces.
Own a deep understanding of industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices across room types, including audio mix facilities, post-production environments, and review spaces leveraging both projection and emissive display technologies.
Bring strong fluency in audio formats, playback standards, and end-to-end media workflows, with the ability to translate creative and technical requirements into clear system designs and project-level specifications.
Act as a key partner to construction teams, architects, and subcontractors to inform technical requirements, including:
Acoustic standards (e.g., NC ratings, isolation)
Room geometry, sightlines, and viewing conditions
Functional Room Orientation & layouts aligned to production and post-production workflows
Ensure design intent is upheld from concept through delivery, maintaining alignment between engineering standards, creative needs, and real-world implementation.
Contribute directly to the evolution of Media Systems Engineering standards, bringing informed perspectives on new technologies, workflows, and design approaches. Actively participate in shaping the future of Netflix’s creative environments by driving continuous improvement, consistency, and innovation across the global portfolio.
Technical Support & Infrastructure
Maintain and troubleshoot complex audio, video, and networking systems across post-production facilities, theatrical screening rooms, QC environments, and creative spaces.
Perform routine and emergency audio and video calibrations to ensure compliance with Netflix, theatrical, and broadcast standards.
Partner with internal network engineering teams to troubleshoot high-performance media and corporate networks, ensuring reliable A/V transport, data flow, and remote access.
Support post-production pipelines and video encoding workflows, enabling creative teams to deliver world-class content without friction.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Partner closely with the global Media Systems Engineering team across all regions to ensure consistent tooling, behaviors, and support standards worldwide.
Create and maintain clear documentation including SOPs, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides, keeping them current as systems evolve.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve system reliability, operational efficiency, and the overall support experience.
Operate autonomously within your region while maintaining transparency through documentation, reporting, and global syncs.
We Value
Calm, professional judgment—especially in high-pressure or high-visibility situations with creative stakeholders.
Strong customer service instincts and the ability to translate complex technical issues for non-technical audiences.
Ownership mindset and accountability for outcomes, not just activity.
Collaborative behavior across cultures, time zones, and technical disciplines.
Strategic thinking that balances immediate fixes with long-term architectural improvements.
Skills & Experience
Experience
7+ years of experience supporting post-production, studio, or creative technology infrastructure.
Technical Expertise
You are not expected to have used every tool listed, but you should bring deep troubleshooting ability and the curiosity to learn quickly.
Theatrical & Screening Environments
Experience with DCP systems including installation, commissioning, calibration, and maintenance.
Strong knowledge of cinema audio systems, including Dolby Atmos, SMPTE standards, and calibration.
Live Events & Production Systems
Hands-on experience with digital audio mixers, wireless microphones, camera routing, playback/record systems, and comms infrastructure.
Audio Production Environments
Operational knowledge of Avid S6 consoles, Adder KVMs, and digital audio protocols (Dante, AES67).
Expertise in audio calibration for near-field mix rooms, home theaters, music rooms, and screening environments.
Understanding of acoustic principles for production and cinema spaces.
Post-Production & Creative Workflows
Support experience across ADR stages, edit suites, QC bays, dailies labs, screening lounges, podcast studios, and gaming/streaming rooms.
Expert-level troubleshooting of post-production software and systems (Avid, Adobe, Resolve, Pro Tools, Transkoder).
Networking & IP Media
Strong understanding of network design, VLANs, subnets, clocking (PTP), and switch infrastructure.
Proficiency with A/V over IP standards including Dante, AES67, ST 2110, and NDI.
