Engineering Manager, Game Lifecycle Engineering
Netflix
Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.
The Game Lifecycle Engineering team builds the systems, tools and capabilities that make Netflix the easiest place for anyone to create, launch, and operate high‑quality games at scale. We build a system of record applications for game portfolios, and the shared components that support those applications (UI components, notifications, authorization system, documentation site). Our work supports the entire lifecycle of games, from onboard to sunset, at Netflix scale. We work with Game Producers, Business Development, and Release/Operations teams.
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to drive the future of Games tooling, building both SaaS applications and developer platforms supporting them, working closely with partner teams across geographies and timezones. It’s an unique growth and ownership opportunity given the current early stage of Games Engineering organization in Poland.
The challenges you will tackle span from setting technical direction for modern cloud applications, through collaborating on vision for the space, to managing a dream team of diverse engineers.
What you will do:
Lead, grow, and hire a team of outstanding engineers, maintaining high engineering standards and a culture of inclusion, candor, and continuous improvement.
Foster an inclusive, high-performing environment where every member feels accepted and respected, and can do the best work of their life.
Embrace the continuously changing development environment, drive innovation and explore new ways to improve developer productivity and experience.
Form trusting cross-functional partnerships across Games Engineering to align teams and ensure their needs are met when it comes to shared components and tools in the Game Lifecycle space
Act as a strategic partner to product managers, designers, and cross-functional stakeholders across the Games org.
Contribute towards the broader Games strategy and goals.
Navigate ambiguity confidently: this space is complex and evolving rapidly, and you will help define what the team owns and how it operates.
Be a strong culture role model, leading by example in alignment with our principles of Inclusion, Freedom & Responsibility, Informed Captaincy and Context Not Control.
What we are looking for:
Experience leading software engineering teams, including experience managing teams building internal platforms, developer tooling, or complex business applications.
A product-oriented engineering mindset — you think about the humans using the tools your teams build, not just the systems behind them.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain high-performing, psychologically safe teams. You give and receive candid feedback well, and you know how to develop engineers across a range of experience levels.
Experience leading platform or developer experience work - you understand what it means to build foundations that other teams depend on, and you hold that responsibility seriously.
Comfort operating in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment - you can align across teams, manage competing priorities, and make good decisions without full information.
Strong communication skills across timezones and disciplines. You can speak credibly to engineers, product partners, and senior leadership alike.
Curiosity about the games industry and what it takes to build tools that empower game developers and cross-functional partners at scale.
Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner.
We are an equal-opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity builds stronger teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service.
