The team’s overarching goal is to grow and expand the company’s business in a balanced, risk-based manner, considering applicable law and trends, drawing on knowledge and experience with specific government/industry requirements and best practices.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping our business partners discern a practical, real-world risk from a theoretical one; has diplomatic skills to unite people together and guide them through impasses by fostering confidence; and thrive in a loosely-coupled world where thoughtfulness and creativity govern, not rule.

The person in this role will oversee the Data Privacy and Product Legal work across LATAM and is based in our São Paulo office. This position sits at the intersection of law, policy and business strategy requiring both hands-on execution and the ability to influence strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Managing some functions of a privacy program supporting the global team

  • Draft reply to inquiries from the local authorities in alignment with other cross-functional teams

  • Working closely with cross-functional global and local teams to understand and assess risks for new consumer-facing experiences, from ideation to launch

  • Providing risk-calibrated legal guidance to support the global team on topics related to consumer product innovation, privacy, IP, consumer protection and other issues while coordinating with subject matter experts as needed

  • Coordinating with stakeholder partners (mainly the global team and cross functional specialist) to share context on product and legal strategy, ensuring we are supporting stakeholder needs effectively

  • Becoming an expert on our consumer product to help ensure we remain helpful thought partners and advance business objectives

  • Helping to scale our team and legal organization by developing innovative processes to support the above

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years working as a lawyer in privacy and product legal.

  • Deep understanding of Brazilian and LATAM privacy, consumer and internet regulatory frameworks (LGPD, Marco Civil da Internet, Consumer Law, ECA Digital), programmatic privacy & compliance, and familiarity with international cooperation.

  • Strong track record demonstrating a collaborative approach, effective communication skills, and excellent legal/business judgment

  • Strategic and creative thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment characterized by ambiguity

  • Demonstrated curiosity and ability to master new areas of tech and law
