At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

Who We Are

In addition to great shows and movies, our membership now also includes exclusive access to a growing portfolio of high-quality games. The Games Social - Communicate team owns the various ways in which players communicate within Netflix Games.

Our mission is to make playing Netflix Games with others feel effortless, safe, and fun — whether players are teaming up with friends or meeting new people through our games. We are looking for an experienced engineering manager with a strong background in the games industry to lead this team and drive outsized impact.

Who You Are

  • You are an experienced engineering manager who has led teams building and operating consumer-facing products. You think deeply about reliability, latency, safety, and user experience for large, diverse audiences.

  • You have meaningful experience in the games industry, which could look like, for example:

    • Building or operating games (mobile, console, PC, or cross-platform),

    • Working on a gaming platform or services, or

    • Contributing to other game-adjacent products that serve players, creators, or game developers.

  • Experience with backend and distributed systems (real-time systems, messaging, event-driven architectures, or similar) is a strong plus.

  • You have a strong sense of ownership and are proactive about identifying problems, driving clarity, and moving work forward, while bringing others along.

  • You are comfortable operating in highly ambiguous and fast-changing environments, and you help bring just enough structure for others to move effectively.

  • You are people-centric: you care deeply about helping others grow, creating psychological safety, and building a healthy, high-performing, and inclusive team.

  • You are great at building trusting relationships with cross-functional partners and collaborating across org boundaries.

  • You proactively give and receive feedback, and you are willing to have hard conversations in service of the team and the work.

  • You build informed opinions and can advocate for them effectively, while staying open to being wrong and changing course with new information.

  • You are excited about the games and social space, and motivated by the challenge of building real-time, player-facing communication systems.

What you will do

  • Lead and grow a team of backend and frontend engineers building and operating the experiences that power communication across Netflix Games (voice, text, reactions, sharing, notifications, and more).

  • Own the technical direction for Social Communicate:

    • Partner with senior ICs to define architecture and long-term bets for real-time, reliable, and safe player communication.

    • Make thoughtful tradeoffs between speed, reliability, and complexity in a rapidly evolving product space.

  • Empower, challenge, and coach team members to grow their impact as technical leaders.

  • Shape and drive the roadmap in partnership with product and other stakeholders.

  • Bring structure to ambiguous problem spaces and help the team navigate changing priorities and constraints while maintaining focus and momentum.

  • Partner with game teams, platform teams, security, trust & safety, and others to design solutions that work across a diverse portfolio of games and use cases.

  • Communicate clearly and frequently, both in writing and in person, to align on goals, tradeoffs, and outcomes.

  • Foster an inclusive, high-trust team culture where people of all backgrounds and identities can do their best work, feel safe taking risks, and have fun building together.

  • Exemplify the Netflix culture by understanding, advocating, and demonstrating its values.
