The Role

We are looking for a seasoned and versatile Senior Live Ops Artist to serve as the crucial bridge between our internal development teams and our live operations games.

You will support the game’s visual integrity long after launch. Your role ranges from creating art to building systems, pipelines, and documentation that enable others to produce art that seamlessly meets our standards. You thrive in the space where creativity meets technical constraints, and you derive satisfaction from empowering external partners to succeed.

You prioritize visual consistency and the product's needs over personal artistic preference. Your goal is to support the team and make the game shine. If you are a highly technical artist who can adapt to almost any art style and have the emotional intelligence to lead through service and collaboration, we want to talk to you.

Responsibilities

The Handover Bridge

  • Partner with internal Discipline Directors during the final stages of game development to absorb the "visual DNA" of the project.

  • Create comprehensive style guides, technical documentation, and asset intake pipelines for external co-development partners.

  • Develop "golden assets" and benchmark examples that set the standard for future content.

  • Act as the primary artistic point of contact for external vendors and co-dev studios during the game's live service lifespan.

  • Review incoming assets (2D, 3D, UI, VFX) from partners, providing clear, actionable, and encouraging feedback to ensure stylistic consistency.

  • Be hands-on with integration: implement assets into the engine, optimize textures and meshes for mobile performance, and address broken materials or shaders left behind by external teams.

  • Proactively identify bottlenecks in the live ops art pipeline and build tools or processes to speed things up without sacrificing quality.

  • Mentor external artists, treating them as an extension of our team rather than just vendors.

  • Champion a collaborative, "low ego" approach.

Skills and Experience

  • Significant experience in Live Operations (mobile free-to-play preferred) is essential, with a track record of shipping multiple titles.

  • Demonstrated Versatility: A portfolio showing the ability to execute across vastly different art styles—from hyper-casual 2D to stylized 3D mid-core. You must be able to match an existing style perfectly.

  • Deep expertise in Unity (or Unreal, depending on your stack). You understand draw calls, texture atlasing, shader graphs, and mobile optimization constraints thoroughly.

  • Experience working with version control (Git, Perforce) and established production pipelines (Jira, Shotgrid). You know how to organize files to maintain clear organization for everyone involved.

  • Ability to spot and resolve issues and optimization challenges.

  • Excellent communication skills with a service-oriented mindset. You are patient with external partners and clear in your direction.

Bonus Points

  • Experience directly managing outsourcing pipelines or vendor relationships.

  • Technical art background (scripting in C# or Python for tool creation).

  • Strong understanding of UI/UX principles in a live-service context (event reskinning, sale pop-ups, etc.).

We aim high here at Next Games and will ask you to do the same. In exchange, you’ll be part of a team that is great to work with, dedicated, and passionate about what we do.

We look for what each person brings to our collective skillset, culture, and values to make them richer. Will you be the person to make us better?
