About the team

Engineering Operations Tooling Team develops tooling and automation to promote the adoption and adherence to recommended practices for software development at Netflix. We are passionate about advancing the health and reliability of our technical systems and reducing the risk from outdated software components. We develop solutions that enable ongoing discovery, learning and support for engineers at Netflix to increase their effectiveness. We build platforms and solutions that standardize and automate the process of Software Change at Netflix with a goal to reduce toil for application developers.

We are seeking an UI engineer (5) that is passionate about making engineers at Netflix more productive. Below are the specific competencies and behaviours important for this role.

Core Competencies

  • You possess strong software skills in Typescript.

  • You are experienced with operating complex React applications and how to debug them/how they can fail.

  • You are proficient in UI applications that leverage client-side caching, pagination and GraphQL mutations.

  • You have a Product oriented mindset that is deeply empathetic to customer needs, strategic in orientation, and metrics and outcomes-driven.

  • You are able to work effectively in ambiguous contexts and adapt to changing requirements, taking initiative to move work forward.

Helpful Competencies

Note: These are nice-to-have skills; you do not need to have all of them to be a strong candidate.

  • You possess strong software skills in Java or Kotlin.

  • You have worked on a developer platform team where other engineers were your customers.

  • You have worked on schema changes in a federated GraphQL gateway

  • You are familiar with the Spring Boot framework.

  • You are proficient with data pipelines and generating analytics/insights.
