Netflix is looking for a Manager to lead and support publicity campaigns for our U.S. Nonfiction team, with a focus on documentary films and series. The ideal candidate is deeply passionate about nonfiction storytelling, understands today’s documentary audience, and brings a proven track record of developing and executing film and series publicity campaigns, including a deep understanding of documentary film Awards campaigns. This is a demanding, high-volume role that requires someone who is strategic, proactive, highly organized, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. This person is innovative, an excellent communicator, and knows how to drive cultural conversation.

You will play a central role in shaping and executing publicity campaigns for a broad slate of documentary films and series, including awards-driven titles, true crime, celeb bio docs, social justice, and other premium docs content.

The job reports to the Senior Manager, Nonfiction Publicity based in our Los Angeles office.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading campaign strategy and execution from early positioning through release and awards season across multiple titles at once

  • Developing creative, press-driven ideas that break through a crowded media landscape and drive conversation and advocacy

  • Managing cross-functional relationships across content, marketing, awards, social, and global teams, as well as filmmakers, talent, and representatives

  • Using data, audience insight, and cultural context to evolve narratives and optimize campaign strategies

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with top-tier media across entertainment, news, industry, and emerging platforms

  • Managing campaign budgets and timelines across multiple projects

  • Partnering closely with the Awards team on awards strategy, campaigns, and submissions

  • Contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team through mentorship and feedback while upholding Netflix’s core values

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience in entertainment publicity, preferably at studio/streamer or agency

  • Deep experience with documentary campaigns, including awards strategy and AMPAS doc branch relationships

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume slate and multiple high-priority campaigns simultaneously

  • Strong business and strategic acumen, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects at once

  • Excellent communicator who can clearly articulate strategy to filmmakers, executives, talent, and partners

  • Skilled collaborator who stays consistently aligned with multiple cross-functional teams that range from content/programming to marketing, social and multicultural to product and beyond

  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key journalists and key opinion formers; skilled at making use of multiple earned media channels, including broadcast, print, online and new media

  • Resourceful and thoughtful decision-maker who can navigate sensitive situations and fast-changing priorities

  • Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through

  • Comfortable working hands-on across all aspects of a campaign, from strategy and messaging to drafting press materials and talking points, booking travel or putting together a press day schedule

  • Curious, collaborative, and open to feedback; motivated by continuous improvement

  • Experience managing agencies and external partners

  • This role may be based in Los Angeles or New York, with an in-office expectation of at least three days per week; occasional travel and evening/weekend work will be required

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $171,000.00 - $293,000.00.
