Researcher - Consumer Insights Games
Netflix
Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.
To succeed in our mission, we need an unparalleled level of consumer insight to inspire and inform our games business. Games on Netflix fundamentally shift how our members perceive and interact with our service. There is a wide range of decisions to be made for Netflix Games spanning product, content, marketing - and their many component teams.
We are looking for a Researcher to join the Games pod within Consumer insights. This person will flex across Product and Studio projects and play a critical role in surfacing consumer insights to inform all aspects of game development. At its core, this role will design and execute Games research that pushes us toward our collective goal of creative excellence for the games we provide for our members.
In this role, you will:
Design, support, and in some cases lead research (qualitative and quantitative) to drive strategy and impact for our Netflix Games (e.g. playtesting, UX/usability research, market research -- at the title and portfolio level).
Explore gaming worldwide, uncovering opportunities for Netflix to innovate and differentiate within gaming.
Partner closely with colleagues across Consumer Insights, as well as partner teams (Games Studios, Games Strategy & Analysis, Portfolio Planning & Analysis, etc.)
Drive results into impact, synthesizing and communicating insights throughout the organization (including executive leadership) with clear, compelling deliverables.
Bring vision to a developing space, identifying the root question(s) to solve for and how to unearth insights that will inform key business decisions and improvements to games across the portfolio.
What we’re looking for:
4+ years of hands-on experience conducting primary research (agency or client-side).
Experience in games UX research (or Games User Research)
Experience conducting research studies across gaming platforms, including mobile, console, PC, etc.
Direct experience with a range of gaming studios and ideally in a high volume environment where dozens of games are being developed, or released at any given time
Proficient in running games research projects end to end on your own with minimal supervision
Effective written and verbal communication style, distilling complex multi-method research reports into understandable, compelling and actionable insights
Experience socializing insights at differing levels of an organization
University Degree in Social Sciences preferred, or equivalent work experience
Proficient in presentation, spreadsheet, and word processing programs
Who you are:
Your lifelong mission has been to understand people, their behaviors, attitudes and motivators
You are comfortable putting a stake in the ground, even without all of the data you need
You actively seek out answers to questions even if they seem very challenging to answer
When something needs to get done, you have no ego and are the first to roll up your sleeves
You stand firm in the face of change and challenge
You are highly collaborative and happy to support your team members
You read the Netflix culture memo and were energized
You are quick-witted, straightforward, and succinct
You are equal parts creative and analytical
You care about the values and culture of your team
Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner.
