Are you intrigued by the powerful rendering infrastructure supporting our animated film production in our Vancouver studio? We’re looking for a Digital Resources Administrator to join the Digital Resources team in each of these locations. You will monitor the jobs running on our state-of-the-art render farms, and provide front-line support to the production teams using them. You will address issues as they arise and resolve them in collaboration with various technology departments, including Production Technology and R&D. As part of a global team, you will also manage automated data transport operations between locations, and help improve processes within the team. This role will report to the Supervising TD for Lighting in Production Technology.
What You’ll Do:
Monitor production render queues and respond to identified errors/faults
Report and resolve problems relating to the rendering and data processes
Work with production to identify render farm priorities (shows, department, shots) and retry failures
Manage production render resource allocations
Ensure production requests for resource allocations and priorities are submitted correctly, and handled through the proper tracking systems
Escalate system faults in a timely manner and ensure follow-through where required
Report on disk-space usage, and allocating quotas, for individual productions
Turnovers and deliveries of external media
Delivery of final rendered computer graphics elements for animation of film to Netflix
Routine securing of assets to cloud backup, project archival, and corresponding restores
Monitoring of key systems, applications and infrastructure
Establish relationships with partners in NAS Production Technology and R&D teams to resolve problems with the in-house pipeline, rendering software and other tools, including troubleshooting, testing and system design
Work with Netflix systems engineering teams on hardware and software infrastructure testing, maintenance and problem resolution
Maintain a clear and common render farm and data operations processes across multiple shows at the same time
Create and update technical documentation for Digital Resources processes
What You’ll Need:
Degree in Animation, Film, Computer Science, Design, Engineering, Maths or Physics, or equivalent combination of education and work experience in Animation/VFX or adjacent industries
General understanding of 3D Animation or VFX pipelines, how departments interact and the types of 3D and 2D data flowing between digital content creation applications
Familiarity with Linux systems management and basic knowledge of bash and python for automation
Familiarity with with computer systems fundamentals: CPUs, GPUs, memory, networking, operating systems concepts
Experience with data collection, processing and display systems like OpenSearch and Grafana
Experience with collaborative development tools like Git, Jira, Confluence, Slack and the Google Business Suite
Strong written and verbal English language skills
Pro-active problem-solving skills and the ability to work within constraints
A professional, courteous and efficient manner and the ability to communicate with artists, producers and engineers in their own terms
Strict maintenance of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information both outside and within the company
An appreciation and curiosity for the goals, roles and culture of the animated filmmaking process

Flexibility in working hours to allow the team to maintain a round-the-clock roster of coverage across two time zones during busy periods of production.
This role is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Hybrid Role (Minimum of 3 days a week in the office).
At NAS, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine your compensation. We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, location, skills, and experience. The overall market range for this role is typically $71,000 - $90,000 CAD This reflects total compensation; we do not have stock options.
