Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

The Opportunity

Netflix is redefining how over 270 million members discover and connect with stories they love. At the heart of this transformation is the AI for Member Systems (AIMS) organization, responsible for developing and operating the AI systems powering recommendations, personalization, search, and discovery across the Netflix service at Member scale.

AIMS is a team of world-class AI researchers and engineers, delivering production models—including those powered by Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs). As the scope and impact of this work grows, we are seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager (L7) to act as a strategic partner to AIMS leadership. In this role, you will help define vision and OKRs, shape the roadmap, drive cross-company collaboration, and ensure that high-impact AI initiatives are successfully delivered to Netflix members.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner on Vision & Strategy:
Collaborate closely with AIMS leadership to define and refine the team’s vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for AI-driven member experiences.

  • Lead Planning & Execution:
Own planning cycles, set clear objectives and key results (OKRs), and drive execution across multiple AI initiatives (e.g., recommendations, personalization, search, and GenAI-powered experiences).

  • Drive Organizational Alignment:
Establish and facilitate effective operating cadences (planning, reviews, status updates, leadership touchpoints). Connect teams, align leaders, and proactively surface risks, trade-offs, and opportunities.

  • Foster Cross-Company Collaboration:
Coordinate with partner teams across product, engineering, design, content, and platform to align goals, manage dependencies, and integrate AIMS capabilities into member-facing experiences.

  • Scale Processes as the Team Grows:
Design and refine scalable, lightweight processes that enable a highly technical, research-oriented team to operate effectively at production scale—minimizing bureaucracy.

  • Lead End-to-End AI Programs:
Guide AI initiatives from concept to launch, ensuring customer needs are understood and that launched experiences are measured, iterated, and improved.

  • Support Budgeting & Resource Allocation:
Partner with AIMS and cross-functional leaders to inform investment decisions, headcount planning, and initiative prioritization, providing data-driven insights on trade-offs and impact.

  • Communicate with Senior Stakeholders:
Create clear, compelling narratives and updates for senior leadership, translating complex AI work into business and member impact.

What We’re Looking For

  • Senior Technical Program Leadership:
10+ years leading complex, cross-functional technical programs in product, Engineering, platform, AI/ML, or related engineering organizations, with experience as a strategic partner to senior executives and leaders.

  • AI/ML and GenAI Product Experience:
2–3+ years working with AI or GenAI initiatives, collaborating with research, data science, or engineering teams. Comfortable engaging in technical discussions.

  • Strategic, Systems-Level Thinking:
Ability to connect high-level company goals to a clear AI roadmap and concrete programs. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shaping direction.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence:
Proven success aligning product, engineering, research, and business partners around shared goals. Able to influence senior leaders without formal authority.

  • Operational Excellence at Scale:
Experience establishing and evolving operating rhythms, processes, and tools to help organizations execute effectively on complex, multi-year initiatives.

  • Outstanding Communication:
Skilled at communicating with clarity and energy to diverse audiences, simplifying complex topics, framing trade-offs, and telling a compelling story about AI’s impact.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in AI-forward or high-scale consumer technology companies.

  • Background in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field (degree or hands-on experience), or significant practical exposure working closely with technical teams.

  • Experience in customer- or partner-facing roles, with a track record of understanding stakeholder needs and building trust.

  • High energy, curiosity, and a growth mindset; excited to learn and help shape how AI is built and applied at Netflix.
