We are looking for an experienced Assistant Editor to join the UCAN Marketing Creative Services team based in Los Angeles, CA, constantly raising the bar in Creative Post Production. Working in partnership with our Post Production Supervisor and Creative Producer-Editor, the Assistant Editor ensures file intake and output are executed efficiently and at the best quality possible.
Opportunity
Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Marketing, Creative Services, the Assistant Editor plays a pivotal role in creative execution and post-production. In this position, you will ensure that all project elements for creative development are accurately ingested, meticulously organized, and readily accessible for seamless execution. Prior to final delivery, the Assistant Editor is responsible for QC on all masters and versions, verifying that all guidelines, specifications, and deliverables have been met to the highest standard. The ideal candidate possesses a sharp eye for detail, demonstrates thoroughness in every task, and brings strong technical expertise to the team.
Responsibilities include:
PROJECT PREP/MEDIA MANAGEMENT
Responsible for editorial project setup, inclusive of but not limited to: media ingest, audio and video sync, and LUT application.
Ensures all media is properly linked to the relevant project.
Sends project specifications to DIT as needed, when partnering with production teams.
Reformats projects and manages handoff/turnover when specialized motion graphics, visual effects, or finishing is required.
Creates final deliverables to project and department specifications, ensuring proper naming conventions are adhered to.
Publishes final files to internal Netflix tools
Organizes final project files and elements for archival.
Archives project and files to the proper tooling location. folder to AWS via internal tooling.
Manages the creative editorial LucidLink workspace, working closely with the Post Supervisor and any consulting partners to maintain a clear workflow and proper media storage hygiene.
Manages and tracks requests for source elements from internal and external partners. Sources all media through Netflix internal applications, and through additional sources.
Ensures folder structure format is rigorously adhered to and files are properly stored.
EDITORIAL
Responsible for culling through original shoot footage to aggregate themes for story edits and/or to determine the best takes.
Integrates Motion Graphic rendered elements into video as needed, to support the Creative Producer-Editor.
Versions and adapts final files to various specs as needed.
Ability to jump into edits to address basic stakeholder notes in the event the editor is unavailable; ability to assist in after effects a plus.
Transcribes video, originates subtitle files.
QUALITY CONTROL
Confirms and validates technical specs based on the distribution platform.
Ensures that all deliverables meet our quality standards both visually and audibly.
Ensures Netflix Branding elements are properly integrated into all assets.
WORKFLOW & TOOLING IMPROVEMENTS
Supports Creative Producer-Editor and Post Supervisor in technical problem-solving and tooling troubleshooting across all projects.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of our Media Asset Management (LucidLink, Iconik) and Digital Asset Management (VanDam, PAL) tools, including workflow updates and general best practices.
Strategize how we eliminate, delegate, or automate our Production workflows for maximum efficiency without sacrificing quality or security.
Requirements:
4+years of Assistant Editor experience at a Creative Agency or Entertainment Studio.
Fluent in video formats, resolutions, frame rates, and codecs.
A thorough understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere and After Effects; Photoshop a plus. Ability to troubleshoot issues that come up as needed.
Familiarity with original shoot camera files and ingest workflows.
Strong understanding of media management, project organization, and post-production workflows.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to lead teams and liaise with stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The overall market range for roles in this area of Netflix is typically $48.0/hr - $62.00/hr.
