The Globalization team, an organization within Content Platform, Operations, and Publishing (CPOP), is responsible for the translation and cultural adaptation of most things Netflix creates, from beautiful user interfaces to discovery of cinematic original programming and Games. We treat each country we operate in differently, since it is not just about translation: it is about providing our audience with an experience that feels local — and we do it at scale.
We are seeking a Product Language Manager, DACH, who will bring together linguistic expertise, cultural acumen, product knowledge and AI innovation. You will ensure that our language experiences not only meet the highest standards of accuracy and cultural relevance but also scale through the adoption of advanced AI models and automation.
This role requires both the rigor of a linguistic expert and the curiosity of a technologist: someone who can safeguard the craft while leading the transformation of how we build language at scale. This role is focused on Netflix’s members' experience on our Product so a change mindset, ability to pivot and a willingness to lean into risk will be key to your success.
Core Responsibilities:
Champion the linguistic member experience by upholding excellence, ensuring translation quality, cultural resonance, and stylistic alignment with Netflix’s brand voice for Germany, Austria and Switzerland and our DACH members.
Develop and refine linguistic guidelines, glossaries, terminology guides, in-market sensitivities, and quality frameworks that guide AI-assisted localization, adapting to evolving business needs and content offerings.
Support the adoption and improvement of AI-driven tools and LLMs to enhance localization workflows and driving efficiency and consistency
Serve as the key contributor in systems that blend human creativity with AI, ensuring quality is never compromised.
Monitor and assess linguistic quality using internal quality models and metrics, providing feedback and context to translation teams.
Act as a cultural advocate by highlighting market-specific nuances and ensuring our Product authentically connects with local members.
Foster change and innovation by collaborating with product, engineering, and AI teams to pilot tools, experiment with automation, and scale successful solutions.
Role Requirements:
Demonstrated expertise in linguistics, translation, or localization, with deep understanding of cultural contexts for your market(s).
Experience with AI, MT or LLM based technologies: hands-on use, evaluation, or deployment.
Openness to adopting new tools that elevate craft at scale.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in accessible ways for diverse audiences.
Strong background in quality frameworks, including terminology, glossaries, style guides, and translation standards.
Innovative mindset, with experience piloting and scaling new tools or processes.
Experience working on product features, UI, and UX, ensuring language and design choices support accessibility and usability for all users.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to advocate for both quality and scalability.
Fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of Games is a plus.
