The Netflix Finance Technology team is seeking an outgoing and curious Payroll Systems Analyst to manage and deliver applications for our evolving finance organization. As Netflix continues its global growth, we are looking for the best talent to scale with this opportunity.

This position will be based at the company’s Los Gatos or Los Angeles office and report to the Finance Technology Manager.

About the role: We’re looking for a senior Workday Payroll Business Systems Analyst to own and evolve our Workday Payroll ecosystem. You will serve as the primary SME for Workday Payroll (US and Canada), partnering with Payroll Operations, HR, Finance, and Engineering teams to design scalable solutions, lead projects and enhancements, optimize processes, and ensure compliant, accurate, and on-time payrolls. This is a hands-on configuration and analysis role with significant stakeholder engagement and project delivery responsibilities.

What you’ll do:

  • Gather and translate business requirements into user stories and functional designs; propose options with pros/cons and recommend best-fit solutions.

  • Configure and maintain pay components, earnings/deductions, tax elections, garnishments, benefits/payroll integration touchpoints, costing allocations, and pay slip layouts.

  • Manage retro, on-cycle/off-cycle, settlement, and payroll accounting configuration and controls.

  • Maintain Workday security roles and business processes for Payroll; ensure segregation of duties and audit readiness.

  • Build, test (unit, SIT, UAT, parallel), and deploy enhancements and fixes, in accordance with change control and SOX-compliant processes.

  • Develop advanced/matrix/composite reports, dashboards, and calculated fields;

  • Support payroll accounting and GL posting, journal validation, and financial reconciliation with Finance/Accounting.

  • Own Workday releases (R1/R2) and for Payroll, including impact assessments, regression testing, and feature adoption.

  • Design and support EIBs, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, and Studio-based integration with time/attendance, benefits, banking/payment processors, tax authorities, and financial systems, outbound data exchange between Workday ERP and other internal/external systems.

  • Troubleshoot production issues, drive root-cause analysis, and implement preventive controls.

  • Serve as the Payroll technology point of contact with Payroll Ops, Employee Services, Talent Tech, Accounting, Benefits, and Stock Administration.

  • Facilitate workshops and demos, align stakeholders, and manage vendor relationships as needed.


Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • 7+ years of HR/Payroll systems experience, including 4+ years of hands-on Workday Payroll (US and/or Canada) configuration and support in production.

  • Demonstrated ownership of at least two end-to-end Workday Payroll implementations or major reconfigurations, including parallel testing and go-live support.

  • Deep knowledge of Workday Payroll objects and processes: earnings/deductions, withholding orders, tax elections, retro pay, settlements, payroll results validation, costing, payroll accounting, and pay slips.

  • Strong Workday Reporting and Calculated Fields skills; experience with audit, reconciliation, and payroll balancing reports.

  • Experience with Workday integrations (EIB, Core Connector) and with Time Tracking/Absence touchpoints.

  • Proven track record operating in an Agile environment (user stories, backlog, sprint planning) using tools like Jira/Confluence.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate between technical and business audiences.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100K- $400K.
