Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

The Business Development team builds partnerships to grow the Netflix member base, revenues and member engagement. We operate as a core part of the overall Netflix growth ecosystem alongside organic growth and as such we optimize for overall incremental revenue growth. The global partnerships team is also responsible for ensuring Netflix is available and prominent on popular device platforms, making it easy for consumers to discover and enjoy Netflix. Internally, our team is an exemplar of cross-functional coordination deeply engaged with product, marketing, content, network operations, finance and legal. Externally, our team leads the charge to shape and grow operator partnerships as well as make Netflix available via hundreds of millions of devices.

As we scale our business in France, successful partnerships with Pay TV platforms and telcos will remain key to retaining existing members and acquiring future members. We are seeking a Senior Director of Business Development to drive our existing partnerships to new heights, develop strategic roadmaps, execute commercial deals, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain these partnerships effectively. The role is crucial for setting the strategy for partnerships in France and executing at both C-level and operational levels with our Partners. The ability to build C-level relationships and have experience and credibility in shaping future customer-facing propositions with our Partners is critical for this role. As is the ability to understand how partnerships fit within the Netflix Commerce strategy to optimize the incremental contribution to both member growth and revenue at Netflix.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Senior Director of Business Development will sit on the France Country Leadership Team (CLT) alongside seven senior leaders from other functions represented in France. This role currently represents, in addition to Partnerships, the larger Product and Engineering function on the CLT and, as such, coordinates and aligns with the France product merchandising lead, as well as global US product and commerce functions.

France is one of the largest individual markets by members and revenue in EMEA and also has a high Household penetration. Further, it has a growing local slate of content to complement our global and international slate. Whilst our existing partnerships are with pay TV and telco operators, there may be opportunities in establishing new business models and new types of partnerships with other sectors such as retail.

The role will report to the VP, Partnerships, EMEA, based in the UK.

Responsibilities:

  • In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and managing our strategic partnerships with (Internet Service Providers (ISPs), PayTV operators, and mobile telecom operators across France.) Namely Canal+, Orange, SFR, Bouygues and Free as examples. This will involve nurturing these partnerships and collaborating with our Partner Engagement and Partner Marketing teams to innovate strategies that grow our incremental Netflix membership and viewership efficiently. The revenue from these partnerships represents a sizable proportion of the France revenue overall.

  • Your role will also encompass the exploration of new relationships within France, with the aim of driving membership growth and increasing viewership in a way that can be achieved efficiently and to maximise incremental New to Netflix growth.

  • In all these endeavors, you will take a leadership role in working closely with our Partner Engagement, Product, Legal, and Partner Marketing teams, ensuring a cohesive and synergistic approach to our partnership strategies.

  • Lead the cross-functional team, ensuring alignment and strategic execution through regular meetings, offsites, and memos.

The ideal candidate:

  • 18+ years of experience in building and managing strategic relationships with industry-leading international organizations.

  • Experience in partnering with the telecom operator, pay-TV, ISP, consumer electronics, consumer internet, or adjacent industries

  • Deep understanding of streaming video landscape and appreciation for consumer behaviour

  • A background in product management/development is a plus

  • Understanding of, and ability to work closely with, marketing and product teams

  • Ability to work with cross-functional leaders

  • Passion for managing international partnerships

  • Experience with drafting, negotiating, and closing term sheets and contracts

  • Proficiency in understanding Telco dynamics and the ability to lead and manage change initiatives within the organization, and with external partners.
