Our Warsaw office is an incredibly exciting addition to our global engineering team. Productivity Engineering is a key part of Netflix’s Platform organization, focused on maximizing developer productivity and impact across the company. The org builds cohesive tools and experiences that streamline the entire software development lifecycle, enabling engineers to efficiently develop, deliver, and operate their services.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the team responsible for Hawkins Professional, our enterprise design system supporting over 700 apps, 1,600 Engineers, & 60 Designers on a daily basis. Hawkins Professional powers a comprehensive ecosystem of web applications that guide our content from script to screen. These apps support every stage—from script management and subtitling/dubbing to VFX coordination—while also serving finance, device partners, ad buyers, developers, data scientists, game studios, developer platform teams, and more.
As part of the broader JS Platform organization, our team champions the needs of UI (browser) application teams across Netflix. Our mission is to empower these teams to effortlessly create, share, and discover UI components—enabling them to focus on innovation by simplifying the complexities of software development and management. Exceptional developer experience is at the core of everything we do.
We work in close partnership with our design team to evolve and expand the Hawkins design system, ensuring seamless integration of design and engineering.

What You Will Do
Team leadership
Cultivates a high-performing engineering team by fostering growth, collaboration, and a supportive, healthy work environment.
Foster an inclusive and psychologically safe cross functional team by promoting open communication, encouraging diverse perspectives, and implementing practices that ensure all team members feel valued and supported
Provide feedback, coaching, and support to grow both direct reports and cross-functional partners.
Clearly communicate organizational and business context, empowering the team to deliver their best work.
Cross-functional partnership
Partner with the Design Manager to define operational models, clarify roles and project ownership, and establish clear expectations for the cross-functional team.
Collaborate in shaping the vision, strategy, and execution roadmap for the design system.
Responsible for leading the team in defining and executing on the technical vision for the design system
Stakeholder engagement
Cultivate and sustain strong partnerships across engineering, design, and product teams to deeply understand their challenges and deliver impactful, scalable solutions.
Serve as a compelling storyteller and advocate, roadshowing Hawkins to engineering groups and connecting its value to business priorities
Acts as the face of the team, building trust and credibility both internally and externally, and effectively establishing a strong reputation that positions Hawkins as a key partner in driving business success.
Business impact via strong domain expertise
Define how we measure the success and effectiveness of the design system and drive the execution and continuous evaluation of those metrics
Drive continuous improvements by staying up to date with industry trends and emerging design system technologies, and by investing in GenAI to further innovate both the design system and developer tooling.
Leverage technical domain expertise to guide architectural decisions and technical vision - such as component modularity, scalability - and mentor the team on best practices like code consistency, documentation, and robust testing.
What We’re Looking For
Technical Platform Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading a design system engineering team at scale, providing support and enabling 100s+ front end engineers to effectively shared component libraries
Front End Tooling Development: Understanding of modern front end technologies (React, JavaScript/Typescript, Node.js), design system architecture, and inner source platforms.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; timely communication with clear expectations. Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Collaboration: Demonstrated experience collaborating closely with design partners to advance a shared design system vision, as well as working effectively within international, distributed, cross-functional teams.
Judgment: Ability to leverage product intuition and judgment to solve problems and make decisions without perfect information
