We are seeking an Indirect Tax Manager to lead Tax Reform and provide indirect tax support in our São Paulo office. You will report to the Sr. Tax Manager, Brazil in São Paulo, and will be deeply involved in all aspects of indirect tax: advisory, tax reform, compliance and controversy
You are a curious self-starter who can collaborate effectively both within Tax and with cross-functional partners. You possess 12+ years of relevant experience in Indirect tax compliance functions, relationships with tax authorities, and leading teams. Key Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will be to manage Tax Reform in Brazil and oversee compliance requirements for Indirect Tax Advisory and Compliance. Your daily tasks will include:
Be responsible for managing indirect taxes, ensuring tax compliance, while optimizing the tax burden.
Analyze the impact of Brazilian tax reform on business operations, systems, and financials. Recommend and implement compliance strategies for new tax laws.
Support the Senior Tax Manager in managing the company’s tax litigation strategy, collaborating with legal teams and external advisors to minimize risk.
Provide expert advice on indirect tax matters, and support business partners on tax treatment for import/export transactions, fixed assets, and other activities.
Supervise month-end routines, including the posting of journal entries and the preparation and review of tax account reconciliations.
Lead the team’s support during internal and external tax audits, and coordinate with external vendors to meet project deadlines and deliverables.
Collaborate with Public Policy to monitor legislative changes and proposals related to Brazilian tax reform, and communicate potential impacts to relevant stakeholders.
Drive ongoing improvements to tax processes and systems, encouraging innovation and best practices within the team.
Perform additional project-related tasks as assigned by the Brazil Sr. Tax Manager.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Accounting, or equivalent.
12+ years of relevant experience in indirect taxes, including import/export routines and processes.
Proven experience in people management, with a track record of developing and leading teams.
You demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills by being clear, succinct and organized, and are able to message complex tax nuances to a diverse audience.
You are highly organized and can coordinate multiple and simultaneous demands for timely delivery, and balance competing priorities.
You cultivate positive relationships and build rapport easily with other teams/departments.
You are open to giving and receiving feedback, and highly motivated to improve your current skill set in a fast-paced environment
You are passionate about automation tools and software to streamline tax operations and minimize manual tasks; you encourage your team to propose and test new ideas and solutions.
Direct Tax experience is a plus.
