Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

We’re seeking a highly-skilled Senior UX/UI Designer to join an in-house development team focused on an innovative music-focused game delivered directly to TV via Netflix’s proprietary cloud streaming platform. In this role, you will take full end-to-end ownership of developing core interaction and experience design for a dual-screen game that will immerse players in a beloved IP franchise.

The ideal candidate will act as an Informed Captain, skillfully gaining consensus and buy-in, communicating complex ideas, and ensuring seamless execution from concept to launch. Your industry-leading craft expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and proactive curiosity will enable you to generate immersive experiences that are fun and intuitive for players with a wide range of gaming familiarity. Your technical skills will be essential in creating new UX features in-engine, empowering you and other team members to develop innovative gameplay moments that captivate members.

THE TEAM

We’re a small, scrappy team with big ambitions and an obsession to deliver memorable, innovative gameplay combined with beloved IPs, served seamlessly within the Netflix streaming ecosystem. We’re looking for new teammates who care deeply about the experiences they create and the people they make them with, who are biased towards action, and are energized by the learning that comes with bold experimentation at an agile pace. As part of Netflix, we strive to hire the best and value integrity, excellence, respect, inclusion, and collaboration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Innovative Designer: Design and prototype engaging game UI using industry-standard tools like Miro, Adobe Creative Suite, and Figma, ensuring intuitive and satisfying player interactions.

  • Technical Implementer: Utilize your technical skills to implement UI features directly in-engine, ensuring seamless integration and ownership over the UX we ship to our members.

  • Quality Champion: Advocate for execution quality in your various areas of expertise and influence, ensuring that all deliverables meet the highest standards. Mentor and guide team designers on UX/UI craft excellence. Direct and collaborate with outsource partners and vendors to achieve exceptional UX/UI execution quality.

  • Collaborative Leader: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to guide the development and refinement of key features, screens, and menus, ensuring a cohesive and extraordinary player experience from sketches through full implementation. Drive UX vision across disciplines, acting as an Informed Captain, even when other leads may disagree.

  • Experience Advocate: Collaborate with leadership to establish experiential vision, goals, and quality metrics, driving a unified player experience across all game features and systems.

  • Communication Specialist: You will be responsible for enhancing cohesion and clarity in outward-facing materials, such as creative briefs and stakeholder review decks, to convey our creative vision effectively.

  • Artistic Vision: Partner with Creative and Art leads to produce mockups, prototypes, or videos that help drive and align UX/UI with the product's holistic artistic vision.

  • Cultural Beacon: Serve as a constant source of inspiration and advocacy, pushing the team to achieve the best work of their lives by helping foster a culture of excellence and creativity.

  • Member-Focused: Act as a bridge between our members, Consumer Insights, and core dev teams. Gather and present materials that align the team’s vision with broader business goals and member needs, initiating new research and insights where there are gaps.

  • Right-Sizer: Balance schedules, budgets, and experience aspirations with data and your deep production experience. Help organize project scheduling along with staffing and outsourcing needs.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Has 5+ years of progressively complex, related experience in UX/UI design, with a proven track record of shipping multiple games in a UX/UI design-focused role.

  • Possesses a deep understanding of game design theory and practices, especially as it relates to UX/UI, approachability, controls, and interaction

  • Is experienced in designing for mobile and touch devices—bonus for second-screen experiences.

  • Can produce baseline mock-ups, especially in early prototyping stages, without additional UI art support

  • Is capable and well-versed in basic scripting and/or C# to implement UX directly in-engine, in Unity, or similar game engines

  • Thrives as a member of a cross-functional multidisciplinary team

  • Communicates with authenticity, intention, and curiosity

  • Gets excited by learning new skills, dashing to pitch in, even if this means flexing beyond this role’s core responsibilities, if it can help us win

  • Plays broadly across multiple games of varied genres

  • Works effectively off-site on shared projects

LOCATION

  • Will consider remote applicants who are willing to travel for work-related events and work a PST-oriented dev team schedule.
