The Team and Role

Netflix is seeking an experienced Staff Security Engineer to join our Workforce and Infrastructure Security (WISSE) leadership team. The WISSE organization is responsible for driving proactive security controls across our technology footprint. This role will be focused on specific engagements on emerging and critical risks for the business identified via the risk lifecycle (eg: GenAI security being the imminent one). You will be responsible for understanding the overall business context and threat landscape for an initiative, driving strategy and guiding execution for the risk mitigation outcomes.

You should have

• A demonstrated ability to significantly reduce risk and influence technical strategy within complex organizations, drawing on broad security experience across multiple domains.

• Experience with emerging security problems in the GenAI space, including familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCPs), agentic development, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and orchestration frameworks, as well as awareness of common GenAI vulnerability classes.

• Demonstrated technical breadth across multiple security domains, with depth in one or more of:

  • InfraSec: Zero trust architecture, OAuth, workload identity federation

  • AppSec: Secure-by-design principles, threat modeling, and securing agentic or GenAI-enabled applications.

  • CloudSec: security controls across compute, storage, networking, and identity in managed cloud environments

• A well balanced perspective on defense strategies informed by attacker context.

• Knowledge of emerging industry standards.

• Ability to to bring clarity of vision to ambiguous and complex spaces.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, adapting messaging for various audiences, including senior leadership, to ensure effective reach.

• Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to balance business needs with risk mitigation goals.

• A proactive and strategic mindset, with a commitment to incremental improvement and innovation in security.

• Strong mentorship skills, adept at developing technical talent and executing complex initiatives through others.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $360,000 - $920,000.
