The Opportunity
Netflix Series Animation is located in the Netflix Vine Studios facility in Hollywood. The space offers twelve premium offline edit bays, four specialty rooms, a theater and a forum. The engineering and technical support team oversee the operational management and workflow of these rooms, and ensures our editors, filmmakers, and studio executives have a reliable and flexible creative space to do their best work.
The Role
Netflix is providing in-house facilities to support our content production teams. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Post Engineer to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring smooth and efficient production workflows, designing and supporting AV systems, and troubleshooting technical issues. This individual will work closely with our animation production teams, technical staff, and external partners to oversee and optimize the post-production process, from editing to final delivery.
The candidate will support the day-to-day technical and creative needs of our Editorial and Production teams working at-home and in-office. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of engaging with Editors and Assistant Editors, as well as content creators and post-production management, and will work hand in hand with the Workplace team to ensure a seamless creative and collaborative experience. The candidate will provide expert subject knowledge and context into platform, tooling, and systems design, as well as acting as a key stakeholder during implementation, commissioning, and continued development. The role will serve as a partner and effectively become an extension of the Editorial and Production crews.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with technology and infrastructure teams to ensure proper networking design and implementation, optimizing data transfer speeds and security for post-production workflows.
You are concise and articulate in speech and writing, with a strong ability to explain complex technologies, workflows, challenges, and ideas in simple ways.
Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and standards, such as SMTPE 2110, NDI, and provide recommendations for integrating new tools and workflows to improve efficiency and quality.
Provide training and support to production team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and empowering them to utilize tools and systems effectively.
Maintain accurate documentation of systems, workflows, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
Be a partner to our Editorial teams, build trusting relationships with Editors and Assistants across all our shows.
Liaise closely with our Workplace team, Production and Post Production Mgmt to ensure our Editors' needs in terms of comfort and facilities are always met and exceeded with minimal disruption.
Document, share, and evolve best practices and ‘how to’ brochure guides for our Editorial teams.
Build close relationships with our software, hardware and vendor partners to drive innovation and development.
Provide workflow expertise, post pipeline knowledge, and guidance to our Editors, Creative, Production and Post Management executives.
Qualifications
5-7 years of experience as an Avid and/or Adobe Premiere Technician.
Have held Post Engineer, System Engineer, or similar roles with proven growth and development while working in facility engineering and/or technology roles within Post Production studio or vendor facility.
Extensive knowledge of networking design and troubleshooting, including LAN, WAN, VLAN, and VPN configurations.
Proficiency in supporting and troubleshooting both Mac and PC platforms, ensuring compatibility with animation software and tools.
In-depth understanding of audio and video signal flows, codecs, formats, and industry standards, including SMTPE 2110 and NDI.
Experienced with TV, computer monitor and audio calibrations.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide effective solutions in a timely manner.
Experience with Video and Audio over IP protocols and standards.
Working knowledge of hardware including workstations, components, displays, peripherals, networking, and storage solutions as it applies to editorial workflows.
The ability to elucidate software bugs, organize support requests, and close the loop on remediations.
Experience with and ability to respectfully engage with creative executives and content creators.
Strong communication skills with proven ability to socialize, explain and promote new and complex technology, tools, and workflows.
Extensive knowledge of content creation and post-production workflows.
Proven track record of innovation, initiative, ideation, and implementation.
Experience with instituting quality management frameworks and process improvement.
Experience working with diverse teams across multiple functions, skills, and locations.
Strong organizational skills with a proactive mindset, positive orientation, and outlook.
Ability to respond after hours for important, timely, or urgent matters.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $50,000 - $245,000.
