  • You are nimble and fast-moving, extremely organized, kind, and fearless.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the Canadian Publicity team and local agencies in the implementation of publicity strategy and campaign management for Canada including single and multi-title campaigns as well as brand work.

  • Work closely in partnership with the UCAN Marketing and Publicity teams on the execution of campaigns.

  • Conceptualize and execute innovative tactics that target press and consumers to meaningfully create conversation and advocacy in a crowded and highly competitive landscape.

  • Pitch and maintain relationships with a variety of high-profile traditional media as well as new and emerging media including influencers, digital creators, substacks, podcasts, etc.

  • Formulate and manage local campaign budgets and monitor key metrics to assess the campaign's effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with the Events team on local events, tour stops, activations and Netflix’s presence at signature Canadian events like the Toronto International Film Festival, Fan Expo and Calgary Stampede.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • 12+ years of experience in building strategic and creative consumer publicity campaigns, preferably at a streaming network or studio with a background in entertainment (TV, film, gaming), global lifestyle/sports brand (e.g. Nike, Coca-Cola, Apple, etc.) or publicity agency.

  • We are looking for someone with strong press relationships who is truly innovative and can conceptualize and actualize creative ideas that will make an imprint on the cultural zeitgeist and drive conversation in the media and on social platforms.

  • Think strategically and run with campaigns or new ideas that haven’t yet been achieved or previously attempted (and have fun with it).

  • Events experience is a plus.

  • Be intellectually curious about entertainment, culture, the Canadian Entertainment landscape, emerging technology, and relate that knowledge to their campaigns.

  • Be a bold risk taker, not afraid to challenge prevailing assumptions when warranted, and suggest better approaches.

  • Be candid and direct, even when that approach might be controversial.

  • Thrive in an environment of freedom and responsibility, where they are able to take initiative and use sound judgment to independently make wise decisions.
