Netflix is looking for a Publicity Manager in Mexico City. We are looking for a seasoned public relations/ communications professional with strong media relations, a thorough understanding of the culture and the idiosyncrasies of Mexico, and experience working with content creators. They will be responsible for strategizing and executing innovative campaigns and managing high-caliber talent (actors, producers, directors) from local and global shows during the promotional window.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Publicity in Mexico, you will work very closely with the local Marketing, Product, and Content teams.

We are looking for someone who is truly innovative and can conceptualize and bring to life creative ideas that will make an imprint on the cultural zeitgeist.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Fueled by the broad appeal of instantly enjoying unlimited movies and TV shows, Netflix has grown to have hundreds of millions of paid memberships in over 190 countries. Great original series like Stranger Things, Squid Game, Wednesday, Accidente, Bridgerton, and films like Roma, Happy Gilmore, and more are on the horizon. This is a great opportunity to join a team spearheading and handling campaigns for the largest entertainment services company in the world.

THE ROLE:

  • They will be responsible for maintaining and growing relationships with key stakeholders, including talent, media, influencers, festivals, and key opinion leaders.

  • They will shape and manage campaigns for titles from a wide range of genres (series, film, reality, documentaries, etc.) and brand narratives, using multiple earned media channels, including broadcast, print, online, new media, and influencers.

  • This role does not cover corporate reputation or tech PR, it’s solely focused on driving the biggest, most exciting conversation around our shows and movies and the talent behind them.

  • The ideal candidate’s natural ability as a storyteller allows them to watch any movie or TV show and find an interesting angle, or two, or five. Their experience in PR enables them to take those angles and translate them into cultural moments with tactics that can drive conversation from a 360-degree viewpoint, understanding how media interacts, amplifies, and drives social conversation.

  • Serve as the expert on the market, able to convey cultural needs and nuances that impact global campaigns and Netflix's work with talent, both in front of and behind the camera.

  • They will act as the point of contact of showrunner/filmmaker, production partners, and talent reps to discuss the PR strategy for the title or campaign -- also working with requests and approvals for assets including photography, glam, interviews, junkets, behind the scenes access, clips, and other AV materials.

  • They can formulate and manage a budget and give visibility into their work successfully.

  • They can work alongside Events producers to design and oversee large scale experiences for fans, press and/or influencers.

  • The candidate should be able to make wise decisions, even when faced with ambiguity, and think strategically. They don’t fall back on PR 101 tactics and are eager to put a new spin on what a campaign can be.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong candidates are good cross-functional collaborators, clear communicators, and can handle a high volume of work and unpredictability. They are curious and ask questions, and they also contribute effectively outside of their specialty. Successful candidates will have a candid and direct communication style. They are willing to admit to mistakes quickly and question values inconsistent with our values and Netflix culture. They understand that sometimes the job requires delivering bad news, and they’re tactful in handling such issues.

  • The successful candidate for the role will likely possess 8+ years in Public relations or Communications roles and hold a wide range of relationships in media and with content creators. Candidates with broad knowledge of TV, international publicity, entertainment, pop culture, and lifestyle trends in Mexico are of particular interest.

  • Expertise leading communication strategies from beginning to end: selecting the right audience, effectively defining objectives, developing tactics that serve those objectives, and managing the resources and time to successfully execute said strategy cross-functionally with minimal supervision.

  • Experience collaborating with Marketing teams within companies.

  • Ability to work with Talent and experience handling Media Relations.

  • Demonstrate the ability to think innovatively—connecting the dots when others cannot. Able to make the leap from information to insight.

  • Able to identify, nurture, and help refine compelling creative ideas and concepts. Takes risks and elevates work.

  • Candidate needs to be a great writer and talker, and love building relationships. Can organize, summarize, clarify, and communicate ideas simply, succinctly, and accurately.

  • The ability to speak/write in Spanish & English fluently is essential.
