The Role
In the role of a UI Engineer, you’ll have a direct impact on our business users and consumers by building products that allow us to manage our global entertainment catalog, as well as our next generation off-service experiences. This includes workflows such as:
- Tagging content with its genre, characters, storyline, and many other dimensions
- Managing our maturity ratings and advisories for all titles across all countries and territories
- Designing, launching and promoting thrilling immersive experiences that captivate fans across the globe.
- Creating captivating editorial content that invites fans to explore and connect more deeply with their favorite Netflix titles.
We need your help to build the technologies that allow us to scale our efforts across the globe, and do so effectively and efficiently!
Your Day-to-Day:
- Work cross-functionally to build, test, deploy, and launch UIs that operationalize our workflows at scale.
- Participate in product reviews and team meetings, providing technical insight. Help scope, estimate, and prioritize between conflicting needs.
- Evaluate new technologies and approaches to streamline and improve our rapid application development tooling and conventions.
- Regularly learn and influence new systems and tools as the Netflix platform and ecosystem evolve.
- Participate in our on-call rotation and lead the incident reviews.
- Effectively communicate complex technical issues and solutions to stakeholders
- Live company values, actively engage in team discussions and provide mentorship while holding the team accountable for collective standards.

- Are passionate about user experience and have an eye for improving UIs, passionate about building intuitive user interfaces in close partnership with UX Designers and Product Managers
- Love brainstorming with fellow backend and UI engineers, product designers, and product managers, and directly with our users, to understand what they want, figure out what they really need, and finally, what we should build.
- Eager to identify business opportunities that positively impact the organization's bottom line.
- Enjoy working closely with business users to understand their needs, and how best to solve them.

We would love to work with you if you:
- Passionate and opinionated about UI Engineering and specific technologies to it, can make, influence, and inform architectural decisions while effectively farming for dissent.
- Are adept at building enterprise applications with HTML/JavaScript/TypeScript/CSS. We currently build our user experiences with React, GraphQL, and several more libraries and frameworks depending on the product.
- Are curious to work with the Hawkins Design System, adopting reusable components as part of the product and contributing to their implementation.
- Have a strong sense of ownership, independence, bias towards action, and inclination for collaboration. We live by our values, learn more about our unique culture here.
- Are able to recognize, communicate, address and lead the technical improvements as part of the roadmap
- Are passionate about web performance, observability and developer experience tools.
- Are comfortable with the technical design of UI applications and can inform the vision of fellow UI and BE colleagues.
