About This Role
We are seeking an experienced Payments Director to join our EMEA Payments team, focusing on the UK/Ireland and Benelux regions. This is an individual contributor role that combines deep payments expertise with strategic thinking to drive Netflix's payment strategy across these key markets.
Our EMEA Payments team is responsible for ensuring Netflix members can easily pay for their subscriptions while we optimize our payment stack for acceptance rates, costs, and member experience. As we continue to grow and evolve our offering, including live, gaming and other verticals, our payments infrastructure must scale accordingly.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive payments strategy for UK/Ireland and Benelux markets, including local payment methods, banking relationships, and regulatory compliance
Own key payment metrics in assigned territories and derive actionable insights to improve customer experience, performance, and cost efficiency
Drive innovation in payments by considering consumer needs, regulatory environments, and technological trends
Lead complex, cross-functional payment initiatives that impact millions of members and significant revenue streams
Partner with Product, Engineering, and Business Development teams to identify and implement innovative payment solutions
Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Policy, Marketing, Finance and Customer Service teams to drive growth initiatives
Navigate the evolving regulatory landscape (PSD3/PSR, SCA, etc.) and ensure Netflix's compliance while maintaining a frictionless member experience
Analyze payment performance metrics and market trends to optimize our payment stack
Negotiate and manage contracts with payment partners
Build and Manage relationships with financial institutions, card schemes and with key financial partners, payment service providers, and industry stakeholders to ensure best-in-class payment performance and innovation
Drive payment cost optimization while balancing member experience and business needs
Represent the Payments team across the company and engage in strategic discussions with executives
Qualifications
10+ years of experience managing large CNP/recurring payments, from a merchant, issuer, acquirer or payments service provider perspective
Deep knowledge of payments technologies and ecosystem relevant to UK/Ireland and Benelux regions
Strong track record of driving strategic initiatives in a global technology company
Experience with payment regulations, particularly PSD3/PSR, Strong Customer Authentication, SEPA iCT and DD
Extensive experience partnering and negotiating with card processors, card schemes, banks, and fintechs
Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to make strategic decisions
Proven ability to influence without authority across multiple stakeholder groups
Excellence in data-driven decision making and strategic thinking
Strong business acumen with the ability to balance member experience, technical constraints, and business objectives
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate complex payment concepts to diverse audiences
Comfortable with ambiguity and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Impeccable judgment and integrity; ability to make key decisions quickly and autonomously
Existing network of relationships across markets
Additional languages relevant to the region are a plus
Willingness to travel as needed across the assigned territories
