The Role

We are looking for the next Privacy Engineer to join the team! You’ll join an established team of stunning colleagues in executing our privacy programs covering critical product areas such as streaming, advertising, games, access requests, and developing privacy by design for our products. This unique role combines technical privacy challenges with cross-functional complexities related to global, large-scale privacy programs.

In this role, you will have a front-row seat to Netflix’s new product features and plans. You will translate legal, regulatory, and customer expectations into actionable requirements, designs, and roadmaps (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). You’ll get to work on data at scale, privacy-enhancing technologies and techniques like data minimization, de-identification, and differential privacy, and data protection methods like data classification, encryption, hashing, and access management to provide the best possible outcomes for Netflix and our customers. You will use your technical privacy domain expertise and program management practices to influence what we do and how we do it.

The Team

The Privacy Engineering organization is dedicated to ensuring safe & efficient data use across Netflix, and the Privacy Infrastructure Engineering team plays a vital role in this mission. We work closely with our stunning colleagues in privacy engineering, designing and building privacy and data protection solutions for the entire company. We promote privacy-enhancing designs, set engineering standards, and create systems to ensure Netflix manages data correctly. We are a small and agile team with tremendous visibility and impact, and with Netflix’s culture, you’ll decide how to use your talents and time best.

Desired Background:

  • You’re passionate about privacy and data protection!

  • You have 5+ years of experience working in privacy or privacy-related fields (security engineering, compliance), solving complex privacy problems with technical, business, regulatory, or organizational constraints (e.g., Privacy Engineer, Technical Program Manager).

  • You have experience working with online Ads or Advertising platforms

  • You have strong subject matter expertise in supporting products or businesses on privacy topics such as data collection, usage, and deletion. You’re familiar with Privacy-Enhancing Technologies and know why and when to apply them.

  • You’re comfortable operating and making decisions in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.

  • You have excellent written and spoken communication skills and can effectively cross boundaries between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • You have experience working with large-scale data assets, including querying and analyzing data.

Compensation

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. Each year, you choose how much compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your top-of-market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to assess your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000 - $720,000.
