The Role
Open Connect is a critical group within Netflix that builds and manages a content delivery network (CDN) handling more than one third of North American internet traffic at peak times!
Open Connect Appliances (OCAs) are ideally situated to improve the latency between clients and the Netflix services running on AWS. The Open Connect Edge Accelerator is taking advantage of the highly geo-distributed nature of Open Connect to improve the quality of experience. It is the entry point for device and website traffic, putting it on the critical path to delivering and monitoring our product experiences. You can learn more about us by watching this QCon talk presented by Sergey from our team. We are looking for a senior software engineer to improve the solution and build new features. You will be working on latency measurement, steering solutions, low-latency reverse proxy, failover mechanisms, protocol optimizations and DDoS protection to name a few.

Deep understanding of the Internet protocols like TCP, TLS, HTTP and DNS.
Experience building and maintaining highly distributed, scalable, low-latency, fault-tolerant production systems.
Great communication and documentation skills targeted at cross-team collaboration.
Motivated by “the art of possible” and able to balance idealism and pragmatism.
Cool-headed during production issues, able to focus on problem resolution.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000 - $720,000.
