The role
This is your chance to be on the ground floor with a team that is transforming entertainment through original production. The Mexico Content Risk Manager candidate will support our safety and security functions across all of our verticals and in particular our Local Language Originals. This role is responsible for risk advisory and guidance for Netflix productions, events, and studio facilities. Reporting to the LATAM Content Risk Director, this role partners closely with Mexico’s Production, Events, PR, GR, and Legal teams.
Job Responsibilities:
- Primacy on assessing content and operational risk for Netflix productions and providing advice on mitigation measures;
- Supports Netflix’s response efforts to safety & security incidents in close coordination with internal stakeholders and our production partners;
- Provides safety & security guidance to ensure global best practices are followed while accounting for local production practices and nuances;
- Monitors and analyzes international, regional, and local security incidents that can have an impact on Netflix operations;
- Evaluates production concepts, scripts, plans, etc., for health, safety, security, and environmental concerns and risks as required;
- Works directly with the Production team in the planning and execution phase of all filming: assessing safety & security needs, recommending appropriate vendors, and overseeing high-risk activities, as needed;
- Assesses gaps and opportunities for regional production safety & security needs, internally and externally;
- Contributes to the development of global risk guidelines, while advocating for the local requirements within Mexico;
- Proactive in the coordination of discussions surrounding production issues and concerns relating to safety & security;
- Promotes development of local safety & security vendors to meet Netflix operational standards;
- Negotiates service levels and quotes with vendors;
- Works independently without direct management supervision;
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with industry safety organizations, representatives, and governmental regulatory agencies as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Experience managing risk for complex operations is strongly desired;
- A strong understanding of the Mexican and Latin American socioeconomic, cultural, and security dynamics is desired;
- Experience in film and TV production safety & security is desired but not essential;
- Professional safety qualifications are an asset;
- Professional fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English (Portuguese a plus).
Ability to:
- Solutions-based mindset;
- Learn quickly and adjust to rapidly changing environments;
- Travel domestically and internationally;
- Quickly recognize and resolve various production safety & security issues that arise during the course of production activities;
- Demonstrate leadership in all subjects relating to safety & security;
- Work collaboratively with diverse groups of people to assess and develop bespoke safety & security needs for productions;
- Interact with regulatory agencies, company management, productions, and studio personnel.
