The Role:
Minted is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Engineering, to oversee the operations & systems platform teams. This role will be responsible for enabling development teams to self-serve operations of their applications with robust tooling to measure, detect, and prevent production issues. Work closely with engineering leadership to build a culture of reliability.
The engineering team at Minted is in the process of re-platforming and re-architecting several services and applications within our ecosystem, so this is a great time to join and help to guide and build the next generation platform for all of engineering.
We have an office in San Francisco and we are also considering remote candidates. This role will report to the VP, Engineering.
Anticipated Start Date: 8/1/2024
We’re open to hiring in either San Francisco or remote. Our SF-based Engineering team has an in-person 1x a week schedule.

You Will:
- Define a strategic vision for the minted platform as we transition from a monolith to a service oriented architecture
- Organize your teams to modernize tooling around monitoring, reliability, scalability, developer experience, and CI/CD pipelines
- Help migrate from a centralized, operations owned cloud posture to developer self-service cloud infrastructure model
- Be a talent builder to attract, mentor, and retain best in class engineers
- Partner with engineering teams to identify, prioritize, build, and maintain tooling that enables them to define and achieve their goals around monitoring, alerts, performance, logging, disaster recovery, etc.
- Help to introduce and drive more platform level best practices and standards across all of the engineering organization
You Are:
- An experienced servant leader
- Passionate about enabling engineering teams via automation and tooling
- Well versed on platform technologies, configuration management, cloud services, such as Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS
- A detail-oriented, hands-on software architect, able and willing to mentor others
You Have:
- 7+ years of experience operating a public facing ecosystem in cloud infrastructure
- 5+ years of experience as a manager
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines
- Experience running Site Reliability Engineering teams
- Experience working with cost-management of vendors and contracts
- Spent time in a senior engineer or architect role
Bonus Points:
- Previous experience migrating from a monolithic architecture to a service oriented architecture
- Experience building backend core services which enable application development teams
- Experience defining standards around architecture, messaging, scaffolding, etc
- Experience working at an e-commerce company
Compensation:
The compensation range for the role applies to both employment offers and Minted employees actively working in the role. Our employment offers fall between the minimum and midpoint of the range to allow for continued salary growth during your employment at Minted. The upper half of the range accommodates this growth and supports our intention to create an environment that encourages lasting relationships between Minted and our employees.
Geo Base Full Salary Range 0 - Includes SF Bay Area $232,000 - 348,000 (Midpoint $290,000)
Geo Base Full Salary Range 1 - All non-SF CA, DC, NY - $213,440 - 320,160 (Midpoint $266,800)
Geo Base Full Salary Range 2 - Includes CO, IL, MA, MD, NJ, OR, RI, TX, VT, VA, WA - $197,200 - $295,800 (Midpoint $246,500)
Geo Base Full Salary Range 3 - Includes AL, AK, AZ, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, NV, NH, NC, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, WI, WV, WY - $180,960 - $271,440 (Midpoint $226,220)
This role is eligible for an annual performance bonus and stock options.
