About the team
Join our Finance Team at our Amsterdam head office, where you will play a key leadership role in overseeing Mambu’s accounting (GAAP/IFRS), financial reporting, revenue controls, and overall financial governance, while also driving the strategic direction and implementation of automation and best practices.
You will work closely with senior leaders across FP&A, Sales, Legal, Delivery, and Customer Support, influencing operating models, process design, and system improvements within your scope of responsibility.
You will lead a multi-layered accounting organisation, with several direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. This role reports to the VP of Accounting & Financial Reporting and plays a critical role in supporting the company’s growth, scalability, and external reporting requirements.
What you’ll do
Strategy, Planning & Leadership
- Act as Head of Group Accounting, contributing the global accounting strategy and governance framework.
- Lead and manage a geographically distributed accounting organization, with most of the team based in Romania.
- Assess and evaluate the company’s financial performance against long-term strategic objectives, budgets, and forecasts.
- Provide clear insights and recommendations to senior leadership on short-term and long-term growth initiatives, enabling informed decision-making.
- Participate in and influence key strategic decisions related to business initiatives, operating models, and investments.
- Align accounting teams and cross-functional stakeholders with the company’s long-term strategy and objectives and key results, ensuring execution discipline.
Accounting, Reporting & Financial Management
- Oversee and continuously enhance the group accounting function, ensuring robust processes, controls, and scalability.
- Ensure the effective operation and ongoing optimization of financial systems and accounting software (NetSuite).
- Manage the cash flow planning process, ensuring adequate liquidity and visibility over funding requirements.
- Review and enforce appropriate internal controls, fraud prevention measures, legal compliance, and financial policies.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial and management reporting for auditors, shareholders, and the Board.
- Present monthly and year-to-date financial results, including clear analysis, variance explanations, and business insights.
- Lead all external and internal audits, ensuring audit findings are addressed and closed within agreed timelines.
People Leadership & Organizational Development
- Mentor, develop, and retain high-performing finance professionals through effective work allocation, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Drive continuous improvement by building a high-performing, efficient, and scalable accounting organization.
- Lead and influence cross-functional and cross-divisional teams beyond direct reporting lines.
- Promote and embed a culture of transparency, risk awareness, accountability, and strong financial reporting controls across the organization.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CA) is strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibility within complex, fast-growing, or multinational organizations.
- Prior Big Four accounting (advisory) experience is an advantage.
- Deep technical IFRS expertise, with hands-on experience researching complex accounting matters, determining appropriate treatment, and preparing well-supported accounting position papers and technical analyses.
- Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end accounting cycles — including procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, revenue controls, and financial close — with the ability to design, scale, and maintain strong control environments.
- Proven experience strengthening financial controls, audit readiness, and process governance in a growing organization.
- Strong proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred), advanced Excel capability, and experience working with modern finance tools and data workflows.
- Demonstrated leadership capability in building, developing, and managing high-performing teams, including coaching, prioritisation, and performance management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional and senior leadership decisions.
- Strategic and operational mindset — detail-oriented while able to understand broader financial and business impacts.
- Proactive, solution-driven approach with a strong focus on continuous improvement, automation, and scalable processes.
- Experience in fintech, SaaS, or other high-growth technology environments is considered an advantage.
