As a Compliance Specialist in the Compliance Testing Team at Klarna, you will be integral to ensuring the design and effectiveness of operational controls to meet both internal standards and regulatory compliance across financial crime, regulatory compliance, and privacy areas. You will play a pivotal role in delivering structured and independent compliance testing, providing recommendations, and monitoring action plans for identified improvement areas. You will own reviews end-to-end, from scoping and testing scripts to stakeholder interviews, testing, reporting, and findings follow-up - acting as the team’s US regulatory SME and a clear, confident voice in meetings.

What You Will Do

• Plan and execute testing activities: Carry out structured testing in alignment with overall Compliance strategies. Engage in testing and evaluating control frameworks and internal processes. Identify areas of improvement and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal governing documents.
• Analysis and reporting: Identify, assess, and document risks associated with Klarna’s products, services, and processes to ensure they align with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Produce high quality reports that include meticulous findings and that communicate risks and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
• Findings management: Actively manage and monitor the resolution of Compliance observations made during testing, ensuring robust follow-up and closure of actions.
• Stakeholder engagement: Act as a point of contact with relevant stakeholders including compliance colleagues and operational teams during testing. Collaborate with key stakeholders to communicate findings, provide recommendations, and track the implementation of corrective actions.

Who You Are

• Minimum 3 years of experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, internal audit, or control testing within the financial services sector, FinTech, or payments processing sector.
• Experience in supporting the development of testing frameworks and processes, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess complex issues and provide practical solutions.
• Understanding of 2nd Line of Defense activities including risk identification and mitigation.
• US regulatory expertise demonstrated through hands-on testing or audit work.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal business teams and stakeholders and to articulate complex regulatory and compliance issues clearly and effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
