Technology Enablement Portfolio Lead

About the Role
Believe it or not, Jane currently has seven full-time IT staff who are supporting our growing organization of 800+ staff. So yes, we’re ready for you to join us!
Our IT team sits at the intersection of security, systems, and the day-to-day experience of every Janer. And right now, we're adding someone to help us get smarter about how we use technology.
This role exists because we've hit a familiar inflection point: we're growing, teams are making tool decisions somewhat independently, and the result is the usual mix of duplicate subscriptions, under-utilized licenses, and renewals that happen mostly because it's easier than stopping. Someone needs to come in and help us change that - not by policing tool decisions, but by being the person teams actually want to call when they're figuring out what to buy, build, or cut, and by making sure the tools we already have are working as hard as they should be.
You'd be joining a team with cross-organizational vision and strategic direction already in place. What we need now is someone to own the delivery — building the systems, coaching the teams, and doing the hands-on work of making our technology portfolio actually hum.
It's a high-visibility role with a lot of real autonomy. You'll have genuine influence on how Jane works with technology at scale — and you'll be doing it at a company that actually cares about doing things thoughtfully.
What Impact We’re Looking for You to Make
You build and maintain the systems that give Jane clear visibility into its entire technology portfolio - tracking what we have, what it costs, and where we're over-invested or exposed. Teams trust the data because you made it trustworthy.
You become the person teams actually want to call before they sign a contract or spin up a new tool. You coach them through structured evaluation frameworks with curiosity and care, helping them ask better questions and make decisions they're confident in.
You bring our vendor relationships into good order - tracking renewal cycles, surfacing risks early, and finding opportunities to get better value. Finance and legal see you as a reliable partner, not a bottleneck.
You lead thoughtful build-vs.-buy conversations, especially as AI tools change what's possible. You're comfortable saying "before we sign that contract, let me prototype something and see if we even need it" - and then follow through.
You build automations and tooling programs and systems that scale this work beyond what any one person could manage manually - less spreadsheet-wrangling, more systems that surface the right insights at the right time and keep improving as we grow.
What Experience We Need
5+ years managing SaaS portfolios, vendor relationships, and internal tooling programs.
Experience building or operating vendor risk and governance frameworks - ideally in environments where Legal, Privacy, and Security need to be part of the process without becoming a bottleneck.
Experience acting as both an advisor and providing hands-on work. You're as comfortable briefing a senior leader on portfolio risk as you are building the automation that surfaces the insight in the first place.
Experience owning the end-to-end process for evaluating new tool requests making sure decisions account for company-wide impact and don't just optimize for a single team's needs
Experience digging into tooling portfolios to identify where there is redundancy and where overlap is actually intentional
Experience driving tool adoption and value realization beyond initial implementation - helping teams move from "we have this tool" to "we're getting real return on it," and building the processes that make that repeatable at scale.
You have a genuine point of view on AI - not just awareness, but hands-on experience using tools like Claude to solve real problems, and an opinion on when building beats buying.
You communicate clearly across all levels of the organization. You can take a messy vendor landscape or a complicated renewal and explain what matters and why to anyone from an engineering team to a senior leader.
If you don’t meet every single qualification but are excited about this role, we’d still love to hear from you.
