The Opportunity
Hinge Health is scaling fast—1,500+ employees around the world, new products launching, and a mission that's reshaping healthcare for millions. But scale brings complexity: how do you keep every employee aligned, informed, and connected to the "why" behind their work when you're growing at hyperspeed?
We need an Associate Internal Communications Manager who can translate complex company updates—strategy shifts, product launches, organizational changes—into clear, compelling narratives. This isn't just about writing emails or hosting meetings; it's about shaping how a global, distributed organization stays connected and engaged as we scale.
This role is perfect for someone early in their communications career who's ready to lead projects end-to-end (with guidance), develop their craft across multiple formats (Town Halls, All Hands, announcements), and build the kind of cross-functional relationships that unlock great storytelling. If you're energized by the challenge of keeping a fast-moving company aligned and inspired, this is your opportunity.
What You'll Accomplish
In your first 3 months:
Become fluent in Hinge Health's mission, strategy, and organizational structure by shadowing Town Halls, All Hands, and leadership meetings—understanding what makes our culture tick
Support the production of monthly Town Halls and quarterly All Hands, from setting agendas to drafting talking points to hosting logistics, ensuring every meeting lands with clarity and impact
Build trust with key stakeholders (People, Marketing, Leadership) by delivering on quick-win projects—whether it's a well-crafted announcement, a recognition moment, or a survey debrief
In your first 6 months:
Own end-to-end communications workstreams with guidance—such as a product launch announcement, an organizational change, or a company-wide initiative—demonstrating your ability to craft narratives that resonate across regions and roles
Strengthen cross-company awareness by surfacing meaningful work, milestones, and contributions across teams, reinforcing shared narratives and a sense of progress in a distributed environment (e.g., monthly "wins" roundups, team spotlights, industry moments)
Experiment with AI tools to improve the speed, consistency, and clarity of internal comms outputs, identifying approaches that meaningfully improve signal quality and reduce manual effort
In your first year:
Act as a trusted partner to the People team, independently leading 2-3 major workstreams with minimal oversight
Monitor engagement, feedback, and sentiment signals , using insights to refine messaging, cadence, and formats—and proactively flag risks or misalignment before they become problems
Develop a reputation as a clear, reliable communicator who can translate complexity into clarity and keep employees connected to the mission, even as the company scales
Who You Are
You're an emerging communications professional who's learned the fundamentals—how to write clearly, manage projects, and build relationships—and you're ready to step into a role where you own workstreams and make real impact. You've worked in fast-paced environments (startups, agencies, in-house comms teams) and know that great internal communications is equal parts storytelling, project management, and stakeholder partnership.
Hustle: You're resourceful and scrappy. When timelines are tight or the brief is unclear, you find creative ways to get things done without sacrificing quality.
Effective Communication: You write clearly and concisely, tailoring messages for different audiences (execs, engineers, frontline employees) and channels (Slack, email, Town Halls, all-hands decks).
Learn-it-All: You're curious about new tools and approaches (AI for comms? Yes, please). You proactively seek feedback to improve your craft and treat every project as a learning opportunity.
Accountability: You follow through on commitments, communicate proactively when things are off track, and take ownership of your work—even when no one's watching.
Collaboration: You build strong relationships with cross-functional partners (People, Marketing, Leadership) and actively seek input to deliver better results. You know great comms is a team sport.
Basic Requirements
2-4 years of experience in internal communications, employee communications, organizational communications, or related fields (agency or in-house)
Strong writing and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging narratives across formats (emails, Slack posts, scripts, presentations)
Experience supporting executive communications or employee-facing programs (e.g., Town Halls, All Hands, company announcements, change management campaigns)
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle competing priorities
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting quickly in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities can shift
Preferred Requirements
Experience at a high-growth tech company or startup, especially in healthcare, digital health, or mission-driven organizations
Exposure to change management communications (e.g., org changes, policy updates, benefit rollouts) and helping employees navigate transitions
Experience experimenting with AI tools for communications (e.g., drafting, editing, summarizing) and identifying ways to improve efficiency without losing quality
Background in recognition or employee engagement programs (e.g., awards, milestones, team spotlights) that celebrate contributions and reinforce culture
Passion for healthcare transformation and mission-driven work—bonus if you've worked in digital health or purpose-driven organizations
