About the Role

Join the team transforming how we treat chronic pain by bridging the gap between physical and mental health. As a Senior Software Engineer on our Brain Health team, you will build the engine that powers our personalized, evidence-based mental wellness experiences. You will move beyond traditional physical therapy features to create AI-driven therapeutic interventions that adapt to each member’s psychological needs and emotional state. This is a mission-critical role where your work will directly help millions of members retrain their nervous systems and achieve better health outcomes.

What You'll Accomplish

  • Deliver High-Impact Features: You will architect and implement end-to-end solutions for our Brain Health initiatives, delivering large-scale projects that introduce new product capabilities to our members.

  • Drive Technical Excellence: You will proactively improve the maintainability, availability, and performance of our services, profiling systems to identify scaling bottlenecks before they impact users.

  • Innovate with AI: You will integrate and leverage AI technologies to automate care delivery processes and enhance product features, directly contributing to our AI-driven care platform.

  • Elevate the Team: You will act as a technical leader and mentor for junior engineers, providing thoughtful code reviews, real-time pairing, and fostering a culture of engineering excellence.

  • Solve Complex Problems: You will break down ambiguous problems into manageable tasks, identifying root causes of incidents and ensuring steady, predictable delivery in a trunk-based CI/CD environment.

Who You Are

  • A Strategic Builder: You don't just write code; you design scalable architectures and make trade-offs between short-term speed and long-term maintainability

  • A "Learn-it-all": You thrive in ambiguity and constantly seek new ways to solve problems, whether that's mastering a new part of our stack (React, Node.js, TypeScript) or leveraging AI tools

  • A Trust Builder: You communicate complex technical ideas clearly to non-technical partners (Product, Design) and collaborate effectively across teams to align on shared goals.

  • Resilient & Accountable: You take owner-operator pride in your work, from "commit" to production, and are comfortable supporting your code in an on-call rotation

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 5+ years of non-internship full-time professional software development experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle.

  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript).

  • Experience delivering large software projects or features in a production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI technologies for software design and coding assistance.

  • Experience mentoring or onboarding junior engineers.

  • Familiarity with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS), or scalable architectures.

  • Experience with healthcare technology (HIPAA, HITRUST) or regulated environments.

  • Experience with Agile development practices.
