About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer at Hinge Health, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale software solutions that directly impact our members’ health outcomes. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners, including product managers and designers, to deliver new product capabilities and improve the maintainability, availability, and performance of our features. This role is essential to advancing our mission of transforming joint and muscle care through technology, including the integration of AI-driven solutions to automate and enhance care delivery. Hinge Health software engineers work on small interdisciplinary teams focused on different parts of the user journey.
The Content Platform team builds and maintains a centralized platform that enables efficient creation, management, search, and delivery of digital assets across distributed applications and services.The Content platform plays a key role in integrating CMS and HingeHealth services, content co-authoring services like translations, adaptive bitrate streaming, text to speech, closed captioning.Content Platform also production grade adoption of Generative AI for content generation at scale.
We are a hybrid team working across a handful of timezones with Pacific time core hours. The team uses remote pairing tools and collaborates frequently across all levels of seniority with an emphasis on empowering one another and leveling up as a team.We enjoy a continuous deployment DevOps culture, and take owner-operator pride in supporting our code in production. Our production systems rely on python, Databricks, PySpark, Airflow, Docker, Rails, AWS, Postgres, Redis. Our workflow is trunk-based CI/CD, and our security/compliance posture is at the highest standards of healthcare, including HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, and CCPA
What You’ll Accomplish
Every day, you’ll collaborate closely with your teammates, product managers, and engineering managers to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable fullstack applications, with a strong focus on backend services in NodeJS. You’ll write clean, well-tested code that translates business needs into effective technical solutions, while mentoring teammates across geographies and contributing to a strong team culture.
Every sprint, you’ll lead development efforts and participate in technical discussions, including the design and facilitation of internal “DnD” (Design and Development) sessions. You’ll also work on implementing features, addressing technical debt, and improving development processes, ensuring high reliability and performance.
Every quarter, you’ll support staff engineers in driving platform-wide initiatives—such as system upgrades, new tooling, or process innovations—that enhance infrastructure, observability, and developer efficiency. You'll also contribute to standardization efforts that empower other pods to manage their services independently and securely.
As part of a DevOps culture, you’ll take ownership of your code in production, contributing to a continuous deployment pipeline and supporting operational excellence across the platform
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical degree
5+ years of non-internship full time professional software development experience
3+ years of work experience with Node JS/ Typescript
1+ years of experience in mentoring and leading junior team members, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, and contributing to project planning and decision-making
Experience with using AI tools such as Cursor, Glen and Anthropic
Preferred Qualifications
Full-stack engineer with strong experience in backend technologies such as Node.js, RDBMS, and Kafka
Exposure to microservices architecture, distributed systems, and containerization
Experience with caching strategies, queues, and throttling techniques
Experience deploying solutions on cloud platforms, preferably AWS
Exposure to third-party technologies such as Zapier, Gainsight, and Salesforce is an added advantage
