Overview of the role

At GitLab, we seek to enable a high performance culture while keeping team members’ experience at the forefront of everything we do. As the Compensation Program Manager, you will play a pivotal role in aligning compensation strategy with GitLab’s organizational strategy, values and culture.

What you'll do

  • Lead all aspects of the planning, development and execution of new and revised compensation programs
  • Develop innovative compensation strategies and principles to further enhance GitLab’s transparent compensation initiatives
  • Administer annual compensation planning, which includes, developing cash and equity budgets, preparing communication materials, building and testing Workday tools and reports, and advising People Business Partners and Managers
  • Enhance and maintain global job architecture and GitLab’s Compensation Calculator and educate stakeholders on job evaluation, market benchmarking and compensation ranges
  • Partner closely with the People Tech team to enhance and automate compensation practices in Workday
  • Support the team in preparation of Compensation and Leadership Development Committee meetings
  • Work closely with Stock Administration on equity plan design
  • Provide education regarding equity plans at GitLab in collaboration with Stock Administration to ensure team members understand the potential value of their equity
  • Develop and deploy training materials to promote an understanding of compensation philosophies, practices and administration across all levels of the organization
  • Ensure compliance with all international rules and regulations (we operate in 60+ countries)

What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrated experience in Global compensation, ideally in fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience in executive compensation in a public company
  • Experience with Workday and Aon Hewitt/Radford
  • Experience managing and scaling various compensation programs through periods of high growth
  • Experience working with People Business Partners and senior leaders in a business facing role to solve compensation challenges
  • Experience leading presentations to executive teams and company-wide audiences
  • Ability to build complex compensation models and articulate it in a simple and clear manner
  • A shared interest in our values, and working in accordance with those values
  • Ability to use GitLab
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

How GitLab will support you

The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of listed locations only. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.

$87,400$187,200 USD
